About the role


We are recruiting for Maintenance Technicians based at our York - Halifax Way site which is situated near the town of Pocklington. At the site we produce sweet ingredients including coated inclusions and cereals for market leading brands. Currently the site is undergoing an upgrade process, so there is an opportunity to be involved in projects.


This is a permanent role for 4 on 4 off shift pattern with alternating days and nights. Overtime is possible and will include extra pay.


How you will contribute


As a Maintenance Technician, your responsibilities will include:


  • Adopting a ‘Safety First and Quality Always’ approach when undertaking all maintenance work.
  • Liaise with production, supply chain and maintenance team to achieve the maintenance objectives while ensuring production can achieve the desired output from the plant.
  • Responsible for both Electrical and Mechanical maintenance of equipment.
  • To deliver all maintenance within mandatory and statutory H&S obligations.
  • Ensuring use of computerised maintenance systems to track job details, stock use and ppm completion among others.
  • Liaising with contractors and suppliers to further the maintenance on site.
  • Ensuring a high standard of housekeeping in all engineering areas.
  • Undertaking continuous improvement and project work to further the business - and continuing this mindset in all works.
  • Communicating effectively to all levels whether for support or information.


What you will bring


  • HNC Engineering or Engineering Apprenticeship (Electrical Bias)
  • Previous experience in a food/manufacturing environment with high standards of workmanship and cleanliness
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills, possess tact, and the ability to negotiate maintenance needs in balance with other departmental requirements.
  • Strong IT skills MS Office, PUWER, COUPA, CMMS, SAP PM, INTELEX
  • ATEX knowledge desirable
  • Proactive with an ability to work with minimum supervision, directing, developing and leading small teams.
  • Logical and well organised. 
  • Effective communicator at all levels both internally and externally.
