About the role
Demonstrate leadership in the area of safety and quality. This requires observing and enforcing safety and quality rules, policies and practices, encouraging safe work behaviors, and promptly correcting conditions and unsafe behavior, which may lead to accidents, unsafe or poor quality product. Demonstrates capacity to use existing systems to identify, manage, coordinate all sampling, compositing, retain and send out activities. Responsible for coordinating send-out results and any environmental testing. Responsible for escalating any issues.
The starting wage for this role is $26.64 per hour. This position may also be eligible for a shift differential and/or overtime. Key responsibilities
- Demonstrates a positive attitude and relates in a positive manner when interacting with all personnel.
- Understand and comply with all HACCP, allergen, environmental, regulatory and customer demands and requirements. Keep detailed and accurate quality records.
- Conduct employee training, education and development relating to quality.
- Support overall EMP product.
- Evaluate products and disposition out-of-spec materials.
- Work in cooperation with production, management, and the other laboratory technicians to help them monitor all production.
- Keep lab neat, clean, safe, and orderly (which includes washing of all glassware/labware).
- Create and update lab procedures and programs.
- Create daily report of quality issues and concerns and communicate them to management..
- Support preshipment program to ensure customer satisfaction.
- Supports and advocates employee policies and expectations, quality, customer satisfaction, GMP, sanitation, and production requirements. Maintain awareness of customer and regulatory demands and focus.
- Coach or direct other department personnel so that they have the required information to perform their jobs adequately.
- Responsible for making sure HACCP/PC’s related policies are complete and reviewed, including, but not limited to metal checks, filter checks, raw material release, allergen declaration, knife control, sanitation PC, screen checks, weight control, and packaging verification.
- Experience with Outlook, Excel, Word, SAP and/or Intelex is desired.
- Perform environmental, sensory, analytical testing (pH, Titration, moisture, fat, etc..) and / or instrumental evaluation of raw material, in process, or finished products following SOP and specification.
- Any additional duties as directed by the Supervisor/Manager.
Qualifications
- Minimum 1-2 years' experience as a laboratory technician or internship food processing company as part of a Diploma program. Fresh graduates are encouraged to apply. Ability to obtain PCQI.
- Experience working in a testing laboratory, food science, or flavor laboratory environment, primarily in laboratory and pilot scale settings.
- Familiarity with HACCP, manual handling, safety protocols, and chemical handling practices.
- Ability to influence others and ensure corrective actions are being put in place.
- Independence in handling tasks and responsibilities.
- Meticulous attention to detail in all laboratory procedures.
- Strong organizational skills to manage workflow effectively.
