About the role

This role contributes to the development of new scientific innovations within the Kerry R,D&A team, focusing on Culinary Wet (Sauce) technology. With responsibility for delivering on the growth strategy plan and driving innovation in the assigned technology.  Driving change and progress within the department through developing a strong RD&A team focusing on End Use Market in sauces .

 

Key responsibilities
  • Responsible for product development & applications for Culinary Wet technology across all major End Use Market, customers and channels.
  • To manage and deliver the execution of active projects to meet the strategy and growth targets
  • Responsible for product development from initiation to launch. Interacts with process engineers, flavour experts, sales staff, marketing and End Use Market team, suppliers, manufacturing, customers, packaging and marketing specialists to resolve problems.
  • Play a key role as Technical lead for key accounts, and remain as the main contact to drive customer intimacy.
  • Use sound commercial and technical awareness of our ingredients, processes and customer requirements to deliver `right first time’.  
  • Have a strong understanding of raw materials, solid formula design and process know how across hot and cold processing techniques. Understanding of packaging fundamentals for wet condiments.
  • Clear understanding of how to design safety and stability into a wide range of refrigerated and ambient stable wet products including oil based emulsion, water based sauces, relishes, sweet sauces and jams.
  • Work closely with the Supply Chain / Operations function improvement projects. 
  • Help drive the business through active participation and contribution to RDA leadership team.
  • Build and develop the RD&A organization by hiring, coaching, training and providing regular feedback – particularly to the team of direct reports.  Instill a high-performance culture across the RD&A function through leadership by example.
Qualifications and skills
  • Bachelors/Master in Food Technology, Food Engineering, Chemistry, Food Science
  • Minimum of 10 years' experience in Culinary Wet (Sauce) industry.
  • Prior experience of working with a variety of product areas within Culinary and Savoury Laboratory, pilot plant and factory experience.
  • Managing people
  • Excellent understanding of thermal processing and filling (packaging) methods.
  • Experience dealing with markets in Food Service (chain restaurants) market in Australia is highly desirable.
  • Experience in managing both internal and external relationships – Commercial/Sales team, General Management, Customers.

  • Culinary Wet (Sauce) product development & application knowledge
  • Processing technology competency, including understanding of log reduction and product stability.
  • Effective People Management & Project Management skills/experience
  • Good communication & presentation skills
