Process Technologist

Key responsibilities

1. Management of Factory Trials

  • Working closely with R&D, Supply Chain and Production Streams to effectively risk assess, plan, communicate and manage factory trials
  • Drive and continuously improve R&D Launch Process framework on sites
  • Tracking, follow-up, escalation and review of planned activities
  • Data collection, evaluation, interpretation and reporting of trial outcomes to relevant stakeholders
  • Trial learnings identified, captured and corrections applied


2. Develop and Maintain Manufacturing Instructions

Establish process control parameters, manufacturing instructions (including recipe information) and validate product standards which will enable the Production Stream (PS) to manufacture products consistent with Product Design


3. Develop and maintain records associated with Process activities which clearly demonstrate due diligence and adherence to the R&D Launch Process


4. Facilitate Continuous Improvement standards set by providing technical support to Practical Problem-Solving initiatives and other appropriate KPS methodologies within the Process function and as required within the Production Stream


5. Evaluate raw material, packaging and pallet formations to ensure that the required functionality is specified and compatible with site processes, equipment and agreed product attributes


6. Ensure validation of manufacturing process is completed as part of R&D Launch Process to ensure critical food safety and quality parameters are achieved


7. Support Profit Improvement Projects (PIPs) working as part of a cross functional team, support the delivery of PIPs at a site level ensuring changes are introduced in accordance with defined protocols

Qualifications and skills
  • Proficient written, numerical and verbal skills
  • Numerical ability to record, interpret and analyse key process data
  • Relevant experience in a manufacturing operation
  • Diploma or higher in food science related discipline (Desirable)
  • Proficient in the use of MS Office tools
  • Understanding of Food Safety and Quality Management Systems
  • Understanding of key elements of the product launch process
  • Understanding and ability to apply in live situations the principles and tools of lean manufacturing (Desirable)
  • Ability to solve problems using 8 Step Practical Problem Solving (Desirable)
  • Understanding of relevant Food Process Technology and underlying scientific principles (Desirable)
  • The ability to identify and actively plan improvements
  • Demonstrate flexibility and adaptability to be successful in a changing environment
