HSE Manager

About the role

Kerry Foods is part of the Kerry Group, an global food organization with over 24,000 employees and with an annual turnover in excess of €5.3 billion. Responsible for some of the UK and Ireland’s best known brands, such as Cheestrings, Mattessons, Wall’s & Richmond sausages, Pure, Yollies, Dairygold and Denny. Kerry Foods is also a leading producer of supermarket private label products such as chilled and frozen ready meals, cooked meats,  cheese and dairy products. We are currently looking for an HSE Manager to our team to ensure the site operates to appropriate standards of Health, Safety and environmental meeting all regulatory requirements. 

One of our most successful group of sites is based in Southall, Middlesex, comprises 4 food production facilities manufacturing chilled ready meals and snacks for major high street retailers. The network of sites is a major employer in the local area and enjoys a broad ethnic mix amongst its workforce with strong “family” traditions and ethical standards that generate huge pride in the business, in its products and in its history.

Key responsibilities
  • Over-seeing that all Health, Safety and Environmental legislation is adhered to and policies and practices are adopted  
  • Implement and maintain the site Health, Safety and Environment systems eg KFSS, ISO14001
  • Analyse & report performance metrics (P,Q,S,W)
  • Through analysis of Site Performance Data, identify performance gaps, trends and improvement opportunities. Communicate internally using visual management standards and effective deployment to line level as well as externally to technology management team.
  • Ensure the achievement of Green Status KFSS so that the site is proactive in terms of audit readiness
  • Carry out regular site inspections to check HSE policies and procedures are being properly implemented
  • Be the site management representative with external regulatory bodies such as EPA, HSE/HSA, County Councils and water/effluent treatment providers
  • Develop and maintain an annual Health, Safety and Environmental Master Schedule for the site, which will include monthly reviews with the site GM.
  • Liaising with HR to ensure development and delivery of a detailed training plan for all managers and employees on Health, Safety and Environmental issues and risks
  • Ensure that the engineering function supports and drives  the site ‘Path to True Lean’ by demonstrating the behavioral requirements that are required to support the Kerry Production System (KPS)
Qualifications and skills
  • Leadership exerience
  • Experience with Health, Safety and Environment systems
  • Must hold NEBOSH Certificate
  • Experience working within FMCG or fast pace manufacturing environment is essential
  • Certificate in Environmental Management or equivalent
