About the role

The Senior Research Scientist will conduct fundamental research aimed at improving existing products and developing new ones. This includes defining procedures and specifications, supporting RD&A through analyses, tests, and insights. Responsibilities involve feasibility studies, development, and production-scale trials. The role ensures that ingredient functionality aligns with customer expectations. The scientist will document research findings in databases and share key insights across teams.

Key responsibilities

  • Leverage the full range of Kerry technologies demonstrating a clear understanding of the customer and market trends.
  • Begin managing projects independently, handling customer expectations, and participating in customer visits with limited guidance from RD&A leadership.
  • Lead both internal and external projects, demonstrating collaboration with cross-functional teams.
  • Develop innovative solutions that support customer and Kerry’s market growth, adhering to cost parameters and manufacturing capabilities, while ensuring product compliance with local regulations.
  • Manage allocated projects and briefs, ensuring deadlines and cost targets are met.
  • Oversee the launch of new products and coordinate trials at Kerry manufacturing sites.
  • Provide customers with optimal products by understanding market needs, manufacturing capabilities, and ingredient limitations.
  • Engage in customer-facing activities, leveraging product and market knowledge to identify emerging trends.

Qualifications and skills

  • A Bachelor's degree (BSc) in Food Science, Food Technology, or a related field.
  • At least 2 years of relevant experience in food science, product development, or a related field. This should include practical work in food product formulation, testing, and analysis. Experience with feasibility studies, process optimization, and running trials or tests in a lab or production environment is preferred
  • Developing expertise in product development, commercialization, and scientific/technical innovation.
  • Creative and innovative thinking with a strong understanding of project management principles.
  • Analytical Expertise: Experience with analytical techniques and process technologies relevant to specific product categories.
  • Commercial Acumen: Strong understanding of business and market dynamics.
  • Decision-Making: Practical, results-driven problem-solving abilities.
  • Project Management: Basic understanding of project management principles, with the ability to manage timelines and deliverables.
