About the role
This is an internal facing role in our Research Development & Application (RD&A) team. The successful candidate will assist the RDA Manager and team in product development, testing and upscaling. Preparation of samples and responsible for the maintenance of laboratory in preparation for product development, testing, pilot plant and upscaling.
Key responsibilities
- Support RDA application team to blend beverage system and beverage application samples in line with predefined mixing procedures and specification requirements (physical and chemical parameters)
- Support RDA application team with beverage application work and pilot plant processing trials
- Manage and support preparation and shipment of samples to fulfill sample request
- Maintain adequate stock of raw materials and ingredients. Follows established procedures in relation to laboratory maintenance and stock control.
- Maintain laboratory, including upkeep of equipment, stocking of lab supplies and general cleaning of work areas. Maintains test equipment and components to eliminate measurement error thereby reducing product failure
- Record results in an appropriate manner & communicates results to RD&A Scientists
- Provide technical support and participates in other RD&A activity as required
Qualifications and skills
- Nitec/ Higher Nitec in Applied Food Science, Chemistry or Diploma in Food Science or relevant science subject
- Minimum 1-2 years' working experience as laboratory technician or internship in a flavour house or food processing company as part of the Diploma programme.
- Operates in a testing laboratory / food science / flavour laboratory environment. Primarily laboratory and pilot scale environment
- HACCP, manual handling, safety, chemical handling
- Be able to handle non-Halal ingredients
- Able to work Independently and as well as in a team
- Meticulous and attention to detail
- Good organizational and time management skills with positive working attitude
