About the role

The role of the Project Manager must be undertaken by an experienced or suitably trained professional supported by the Vice President of the Engineering Department.  For Major capital projects, a Project Manager must be able to handle all aspects of the Project Management role from process development through to manufacturing support.  In Kerry the approach will be that the technical scope of the project will be given to a Project Director who will demobilise from the project once commissioning is completed and the project has been handed over to the site operations team.

Key responsibilities

  • Responsible for co-ordinating activities related to the application for and the approval of the statutory local authority planning approvals required for the project. 
  • Ensure that all SHE, Security, Fire Protection and legal requirements and regulations are clearly understood and adhered to, and control the premises until hand over
  • Ensure that design complies with relevant Kerry Design Guides and local engineering practices.
  • Ensures that drawing requirements (Computer Aided Design Drawing) CAD standards are followed
  • Ensures that all appropriate Kerry technical standards are applied during the project implementation
  • Together with the Construction Representative, to ensure that a detailed construction program is prepared, which meets the requirements of local regulatory authorities, Hygiene Codes, Quality Management and Operations and is consistent with the Testing and Commissioning Plan
  • Liaises with the Construction Team to monitor the construction activity against the Program
  • Schedule and lead project progress reviews
  • Responsible for preparing the engineering aspects of the project when reviewing project change requests (PCR)
  • Ensures all construction reviews are carried out in a timely manner and that all required engineering regional and global functions are involved in these reviews
  • Responsible for co-ordinating design reviews and approvals between Kerry / Engineering Service providers / Main Contractors and Sub-Contractors.
  • Assist local project procurement to carry out the engineering contract strategy in the selection of contractors and suppliers
  • In relation to the contractor the Project Manager must ensure that the execution of the engineering scope of the project is in accordance with contract and the job specification
  • Responsible for the control and co-ordination of all contractors and suppliers either directly or through his project discipline team members
  • Chairs summary project meetings and ensures all other necessary specialist meetings are held as required
  • Manages the preparation of initial and ongoing estimates of the construction phase costs, including materials, labour, design and supervision
  • Monitor directly or through his appointed Project Controller cost expenditure against estimates and report cost position to Overall Project Manager / Regional Functions on a regular basis
  • Is responsible for monitor testing and commissioning work prior to Handover to local Operations Team and agree any punch list with the Process and Non-Process Commissioning Leads
  • Manages Project Technical Documentation, from time of hire to Handover, meeting all milestones within the Project Program to ensure that the project progresses in a timely manner
  • Is responsible for all the details, conversion to design and eventual procurement, installation and testing of all Kerry process equipment
  • Is part of the team that completes the engineering project phase, including interim hand-overs, to the local Operational country representatives

  • Good technology skills and capability to use appropriate Project Management and standard business tools such as MS Project, Excel, Word etc.
