About the role


Work Location:         Shah Alam, Malaysia
Reporting To:            RD&A Director


In this role, you will be the “The Emulsifier product developer” focusing on the development of new emulsifiers by a strong chemical understanding of the food esters.


Key responsibilities


•    Oversees projects from customer or internal brief through to hand over to site at scale up phase.
•    Prepares project plan, executes lab experiments, evaluates the results and writes clear reports.
•    Conducts detailed research for the improvement of existing products.
•    Keeps up to date on key scientific developments (literature, patents…)
•    Works closely with site and application tteam to adapt emulsifier range to food product requirements and technical support on product functionality
•    Understand the market focus and identify the gaps in the portfolio
•    Understands method of analysis and can define scope for improvement to suit evolving market requirements
•    Ensures that good laboratory practices and lab protocols are being utilized.
•    Documents all research notes in computer databases and records and disseminates key learnings.
•    Provides our multidisciplinary team with day-to-day support
•    Support innovation for new product development and new business opportunities to meet customer and consumer needs.
•    Gets actively involved in application testing for new and existing products and will sometimes interact with technical teams in customers to explain the workings of our products
•    Will participate in process and plant improvement projects as key member to contribute and investigate solutions and ideas that are based on improved chemistry, altering product composition
•    Interface with internal and external scientific experts, to identify scientific opportunities to help advance product innovation, support business regulatory functions with claims and positioning


Qualifications and skills


•    Bachelor’s Degree in Chemistry or related field.
•    Minimum 5 years in similar field (Oleo-chemistry would be a plus) within Chemistry or Food Industry are preferred. 
•    Solid understanding of Organic Chemistry, with strong project management background
•    Proficiency with the SAP system is an added value.
