About the role

Key responsibilities

Do you thrive in a  fast-paced team environment and work closely with production and other colleagues?

The Lab Technician makes quick decisions and uses sound judgement  to make rational decisions pertaining to recommended adjustments, corrective actions and disposition of goods.

 

 

Do you have a good nose and a desire to taste new products? 

You'll be  exposed to smell and a variety of flavors, products, essential oils and raw materials.

 

Accuracy Counts!

You'll be conducting required tests, analysis, and/or verification steps to assure that raw materials, batched product, and finished product exceeds established quality standards. The Lab Technician verifies conformity through measurement and assessment. 

 

Strong attention to detail is a must! Adherence to procedures, policies, and instructions, and the ability to follow verbal and written instructions is essential for this role.

The production lines are running non-stop in order to ship products to our customers and in order to ensure quality products are being released for delivery,  working weekends or holidays may be required to get the job done, and you’ll need the ability to handle high speed projects and work under time pressures. Examples are:

  • Conduct line Audits and Case inspections
  • Finished product testing: Physical, Chemical, or Microbiological as appropriate to assigned job.
  • Place product under Initial Evaluation
  • Product QA Holds/QA Releases
  • HACCP & HACQP checks
  • Documentation, record keeping and file maintenance
  • Equipment standardization, calibration, maintenance and record keeping
  • Laboratory inventory
  • Compile product, package, and ingredient data as required.
  • Sensory evaluation of ingredients and finished products as necessary

 

To be successful in as a Lab Tech, you’ll need the following qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent from an accredited institution is required. College Diploma or University Degree in Food Science, Biology, Chemistry, or relevant science is desired
  • 1+ years of experience in food, pharmaceutical industry, or manufacturing environment is needed to understand the needs in quality
  • Knowledge with GMP, HACCP, FSMA, FCC/USP/ASTA test methods
  • Ability to work overtime and on weekends.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. and stand for majority of your shift and/ or long periods of time
  • Intermediate to advanced experience with Microsoft office such as excel and outlook
