About the role
The Production Manager is involved with the planning, coordination and control of manufacturing processes for the Seattle site. They ensure that goods and services are produced efficiently and that the correct amount is produced at the right cost and level of quality that maintains market competitiveness.
Key responsibilities
Direct the processing of products to ensure top quality and compliance with Corporate Quality specifications, governmental regulations, standard operating procedures and good manufacturing practices.
Properly schedule all aspects of processing operations and labor to efficiently meet production and customer requirements on a timely basis.
Ensure coordination with maintenance to achieve repair and preventative maintenance of equipment to minimize downtime and maximize production efficiency.
Assist in the development and implementation of Capital Projects.
Assure the department is maintained in a quality fashion adhering to Provincial, Federal and good manufacturing practices.
Manage safe operation of workers and equipment in the production of high quality/ high value products, while applying learned knowledge of processes involved and production methods.
Oversees the efficient operations and inventory of the plant, outside storage facilities and yard.
Responsible for organizing the warehouse and the work flow.
Maintaining inventory based on FIFO and assist in preventing customer service issues.
Responsible for delivery of KPI’s for warehouse and cost control.
Play key role in maintaining the quality of the products produced in the facility.
Plan and develop systems and procedures to improve quality and efficiency of the department.
Assist in training employees in work methods and procedures.
Coordinate activities of workers engaged in producing products, ensuring all aspects of production are handled at the highest level of quality and safety.
Manage the process of syrup processing from initial steps of processing to final steps in warehousing finished product.
Communicate and work with maintenance department so that all equipment is maintained at the highest level to reduce unnecessary down time, quality defects and worker injury.
Participate in plant GMP audits and give direction to subordinates with regards to corrective actions and follow-up
Participate in plant Safety audits and give direction to subordinates with regards to corrective actions and follow-up.
Manage yields and maximize opportunities.
Perform performance reviews of employees.
Address any human resource needs, relating to those being managed, (in a timely manner) ensuring proper documentation and communication with necessary parties and HR department.
Work with plant, corporate and client personnel to resolve day-to-day production tasks/needs as they arise.
Understand and obey all Good Manufacturing Practices and safety and sanitation regulations and policies/procedures..
Observe practices consistent with our Customer Service Quality Program.
Carry out duties as requested by Plant Manager and Director of Operations.
Support the SQF Food Safety and Quality System by implementing and following procedures, taking part in GMP inspections, conducting and/or participating in internal audits and management reviews. and participating in training.
Qualifications and skills
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Business, Food Science preferred.
Must have a minimum of five plus years in production management.
Requires strong supervisory skills, high degree of organization, excellent communication and writing skills.
2-5 years food plant experience
The recommended salary range for the position is $91,404 - $154,009.
