About the role

 

The Blending Operator is responsible for mixing batches of product in accordance with batching and weigh out instructions. The Blender must ensure specifications are obtained, verifying adherence through appropriate laboratory tests. Upon completion of finished batches, the Blending Operator ensures that documentation is complete and transfers product so that it is ready for processing. The Blending Operator ensures that blend areas, blending systems, and ingredients are maintained according to applicable GMP standards. The blender must also work in proximity to the process operator. This position reports to the applicable shift Production Supervisor. In the absence of the Blender, another Blender will serve as backup.

Key responsibilities

  • Essential Duties & Responsibilities: Operation of blending, product transfer and cleaning systems including, but not limited to, Mix-Blend A,C,D, CIP circuits A, B, C, and Silos.
  • Demonstrate accurate measurement abilities of ingredient quantities and addition of ingredients to the blending system in accordance with approved blending instructions.
  • Accurate documentation of all pertinent material information (lot numbers, quantities, locations, etc.) on the appropriate forms.
  • Operation of laboratory equipment required to test finished batches and ensure that they meet specifications.
  • Operation of material handling equipment (Lift Truck, Pallet Jack, Drum Dolly, etc.) as needed in support of blending process.
  • General support of plant production and quality as assigned by plant leadership. Basic Troubleshooting of blending and CIP systems.
  • Basic Preventative Maintenance of blending and CIP systems. Advanced Troubleshooting of blending and CIP systems.
  • Basic operation and CCP monitoring of processing systems.
  • Trained in the Kerry HACCP program in order to identify critical steps and other instructions critical to effective implementation and maintenance of the Food Safety Plan.
  • General support of plant production and quality assigned by plant leadership.
  • Attend all safety meetings, report any safety incidents/accidents and understand and follow all Company and Plant Safety policies and Procedures.
  • Support for the SQF 2000 System.
  • Have knowledge of RF scanning process and scan each ingredient for the batches they are blending.

Qualifications and skills

  • Ability to read, write, and communicate in English at a level to facilitate the understanding of the terminology of the job.
  • Ability to comprehend and follow written and/or verbal procedures or instructions.
  • Ability to learn basic keyboard and data entry skills.
  • Have basic math skills; demonstrate use of accurate weight and measures.
  • Have basic mechanical skills.
  • Demonstrate excellent personal hygiene habits; be at all times compliant with the plant GMP procedures.
  • Understand and comply with plant allergen control process.
  • Ability to work safe in a fast paced environment.
  • Ability to operate forklift and pallet movers.
  • Ability to lift 50 lbs repetitiously, up to 100 lbs occasionally, and the ability to kneel, bend over, squat, stoop, and carry.
  • Ability to work in a warm and dusty environment. Blenders must “work clean” at all times.
  • Ability to plan and organize ahead to maximize job efficiency.

Education and/or Experience:

  • High School graduate or equivalent required.
  • Previous food and beverage manufacturing experience a plus.
  • Demonstrate communication, organization, and listening skills.
  • Excellent attention to detail, neatness, and follow through.
  • Ability to organize and handle multiple tasks.
