About the role

Studies and performs organoleptic testing of raw materials, compounds a broad range of flavours such as simple mixtures, extracts, emulsions, and powder blends in support of sample requests and project needs.

Maintains inventory of raw materials and lab supplies. Continually studies and learns the different aspects of flavour chemistry as established by relevant industry bodies.

Key responsibilities

  • Compound a broad range of flavours such as simple mixtures, extracts, emulsions, and powder blends in support of sample requests and project needs to fulfil briefs.
  • Perform physical, chemical, and organoleptic testing and analysis of flavours.
  • Work with analytical group for flavour matching projects.
  • Collaborate with applications group on projects as needed· Train on relevant regulatory and labelling requirements for flavours.
  • Support senior flavourists on various flavour projects both internal and external.
  • Work with cross functional team to optimize the strengths of Kerry and deliver the best Taste and Nutrition experience for customers.
  • Participate in sensory panels and other developmental opportunities.
  • Maintain inventory of raw materials and lab supplies.

Qualifications and skills

  • Preferably Chemistry (E.g. Biochemistry, Chemical Engineering, Pharmaceutical Chemistry).
  • Bachelor’s degree in Food Science, Life Science, or relevant food/flavour/science based industry experience.
  • Typical years of experience: 0-3 years.
  • Personal Competencies: Passion for Food and drink, for smell, for culinary
  • Knowledge: Good math skills required, demonstration of discerning sense of smell and taste, knowledge of organic and food chemistry, as well as flavour applications.
