About the role

If you’re looking for career advancement opportunities, a fun, challenging role as RD&A Process Manager, Fermentation, managing 3- 4 team members, then this may be is the position for you!   You will interface with relevant functional teams (Corporate RD&A and Plant Teams) to develop new processes, optimize existing processes and develop strategy to meet the needs for future business growth.

 

With over 45 plant across North America & Canada, the plant in Rochester, MN, is a part of our Kerry Applied Health & Nutrition (AH&N) Division and has roughly 135 employees. Our Rochester location creates natural fermented ingredients. The Rochester plant is growing and quickly becoming an employer of choice in the area. Key responsibilities

This role is crucial to support future growth of our large scale fermentation and the AH&N Business.   Under the direction of the Rochester Plant Manager, you will interface with R&D, Manufacturing, Engineering and the business to ensure sufficient and efficient fermentation processes for the product portfolio and to manage the process capabilities for growth.   You will drive current and future production needs through process optimization, assist with toll production and evaluation of new technologies.   Excellent partnership with cross functional teams will be required for success of this role. 

 

  • Develop strategy for fulfilling future production and have oversight of the commercialization process for new products/processes and transfers
  • Drive yield / process improvement optimization of existing production processes to maximize the capacity for the Rochester site
  • As a key member of the Leadership team for the plant, provide support to the operations, challenge the other leaders to strive for improvement and deliver engaging environment for the employees
  • Toll Manufacturing relationship – assist in the evaluation of the strategic alliances from the R&D, product development aspect for FI&A

Qualifications and skills

The person who will find success in this role will be a strong leader, with solid interpersonal communication, background in Microbiology or Bio-Technology and with a solid understanding of aseptic fermentation processes.

  • B.S. Microbiology or Bio-technology Degree,  ideally to M.S. or PhD level
  • Key Process engineering / knowledge of production / pilot plant and equipment and Fermented Ingredients portfolio
  • Strong knowledge of aseptic fermentation and the associated downstream processes required for production. 
  • Demonstrated background and experience in all aspects of microbiology related to aseptic fermentation systems, with a key understanding of aseptic process requirements
  • Strong managerial skills and ability to develop relationships with cross functional teams
