Packaging Operator

I.          ORGANIZATIONAL RELATIONSHIPS:

A.        Reports to:                                         Production Supervisors, Production Team Leads

B.        Directly Supervises:                        None

C.        Indirectly Supervises:                      None

II.         ORGANIZATIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

Demonstrates leadership in the area of safety.  This requires observing and enforcing safety rules and practices, encouraging safe work behaviors, and promptly correcting conditions and unsafe behavior, which may lead to accidents.

Continually endorses the Quality Policy and assures conformance to all requirements of the Quality Management System.

III.        GENERAL STATEMENT OF RESPONSIBILITY:

Stages and blends ingredients, packages products, and COPs all blending and packaging equipment during scheduled cleaning periods.  Follows established procedures in order to achieve QC approved products.

 

 

IV.       MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES include the following.  Other duties may be assigned.

A.        Essential Functions:

  1. Performs daily set up and running of packer control system, by understanding packer parts, de-aeration probes, bag sealer, bag conveyor and flattener, Matcon packer discharge station and sifter system, IBC filling and dump station and Matcon scale read out.
  1. Performs daily HACCP checks for packaging room and blend room, (screen check, metal detector, and tool check list) and understands the important of this checklist.
  1. Performs Issues and Receipts with Mapics, pick list, and coversheets for manufacturing orders. Fills out powders packaging summary and dry blending and packaging weight control chart, and quality control check-off procedures.
  1. Washes and cleans equipment per the sanitation manual.  Follows GMP program and rules.
  1. Operates forklift per training procedures.
  1. Informative knowledge of Qset and Work instructions.

B.        Marginal Functions:

  1. Assist other production operators as time/shift allows.

A.        INTERNAL:                           Site managers, Supervisors, Team Leads and all production personnel

B.        EXTERNAL:                          None

A.        EDUCATION:                       High school diploma or GED preferred.

B.        EXPERIENCE:                     None required.

C.        SKILLS                                  Must have the ability to work alone and in close cooperation with production personnel.  Capable of working through complex problems alone or with others to provide logical solutions.

Qualifications and skills

A.        EDUCATION:                       High school diploma or GED preferred.

B.        EXPERIENCE:                     None required.

C.        SKILLS          Must have the ability to work alone and in close cooperation with production personnel.  Capable of working through complex problems alone or with others to provide logical solutions

VII.      WORK ENVIRONMENT AND PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  1. The physical demands of this position include the ability to walk and stand on a regular basis.  Must climb stairs and ladders.   The ability to reach, bend/stoop, crouch, squat, push/pull and manipulate is frequently required.  Must frequently lift product from a variety of positions to 55 pounds and has occasional requirement to lift over 55 pounds. Vision and the ability to read and write are required to perform this job. Talking and hearing are not essential functions of this position.
  2. The job is performed inside.  There is exposure to humidity, dust, fumes, noise, and chemical agents.  Hearing protection is required.   On occasion there is close proximity to moving objects and sharp tools and limited room for movement when staging product.  The floor surface is linoleum, metal grates, or concrete frequently wet in some areas.  The temperature is variable based on the season and the task being performed.
