About the role

Our Rochester, MN location is part of our Applied Health and Nutrition Division and specializes in fermented ingredients for products related to the bio-science industry. Our team is proud of the work they do and have a focus on clean label or natural products ensuring freshness.

As a Food Sanitation professional at Kerry, you’ll focus on the food sanitation process including continuous improvement, training, retraining, sanitation procedures, design of equipment. The Sanitation Manager implements and maintains programs related to sanitation, pest control and production.  This position is responsible for overseeing and developing both exempt and non-exempt direct reports for a 24 hour per day, 7 day per week food manufacturing operation. 

What would you do?

  • Ensure the facility is compliant with customer and governmental requirements for cleanliness while maintaining the highest safety and quality standards.
  • Manage relationships with vendors including chemical suppliers, pest control companies, and others as needed.
  • Lead sanitation employees to clean facility using approved chemical solutions.
  • Maintain chemical inventory.
  • Participate and lead cross-functional teams with production & quality.
  • Review existing sanitation programs, recommend, develop, and implement new or improved programs.
  • Maintain master cleaning schedule for plant meeting GMP and Kerry guidelines
  • Responsible for sanitation of plant, warehouse, and plant ground.

What will you need to be successful?

  • A Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution is required in a science, engineering, or technical field. An advanced degree is a plus (PhD, M.S. or MBA) as well as professional certifications (i.e. Six Sigma, ASQ certifications).
  • A minimum of 5 years of relevant Food Safety/Quality/Sanitation experience with at least 2 years succeeding in leadership roles.
  • Prior experience with overall responsibility for directing a Food Safety organization and setting strategic direction for the company's policies and procedures.
  • Deep knowledge and experience in developing and improving food safety and sanitation programs.
  • Strong team orientation and team building; ability to mentor and develop members of the team.
  • Experience managing Food Safety Management Systems (HACCP, FSSC-22000, ISO 9001, etc.)
