About the role

Where you'll work: 

Our Rochester, MN location is part of our Applied Health and Nutrition Division and specializes in fermented ingredients for products related to the bio-science industry.  Our team is proud of the work they do and have a focus on clean label or natural products ensuring freshness.

Pay Rate/Hourly Rate/shift differential: 22.05-26.00

Sign On Bonus: $2000.00

Shift/Working Hours: 12 hr rotation, 3-2-2 schedule working 5 PM-5:30 AM

 Mandatory OT every other week, hours per week alternating 36 and 48 hours.


What you'll do:

 Maintains full knowledge of relevant procedures of inspection and testing of the Microbiology laboratory. Works towards continuous improvements within the lab, trending and identifying actions for Out-Of-Specification reduction.


Key responsibilities

  1. Maintains knowledge of relevant procedures of inspection and testing of Analytical, Microbiology, Sample and Bread testing laboratories. Works towards continuous improvements within the labs, trending and identifying actions for Out-Of-Specification reduction.
  2. Ensures that products and QC practices are in compliance with Kerry standards and local, state and federal regulations, as well as customer requirements.
  3. Involved in all aspects of third-party manufacturing product planning, testing, and releasing.
  4. Perform routine factory-based food safety and quality standards inspections and audits including (but not an exhaustive list): Fabrication inspections, GMP, Hygiene Verification audits, Foreign body inspections, layered confirmation audits, logging all non-conformances.
  5. Provide guidance, education and support to the department being audited to enable them to self-inspect and ensure they understand the standards required.
  6. Involved in Quality Programs related to GMP’s, CCP’s, Allergen Control program, Sanitation Excellence, and all other relevant Quality & Food Safety programs.
  7. Working cross functionally to ensure the prompt release of all finished products and raw materials. Ensures releases are on time and communicates with supply chain on the movements of end dates.
  8. Ensuring the correct information and parameters are included on COA’s and CoC’s in line with our customers’ requirements
  9. Work cross-functionally to drive improvement in factory standards to exceed our customer and regulatory expectations
  10. Maintains coverage of the sample lab, micro lab, and analytical lab as necessary.

Qualifications and skills

    1. EDUCATION: Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry, Food Science, Microbiology or a related field.
    2. EXPERIENCE: 1-5 years experience in food Production or food QC lab setting is preferred.
    3. SKILLS Knowledge in quality systems, and food safety is required. Knowledge of current GMP. Allergen awareness. Must be computer literate. Must have excellent interpersonal skills, including both verbal and written communication and the ability to lead and work in interdepartmental teams. The work is self-directed and requires the ability to work without close, direct supervision utilizing good organizational techniques.
