About the role

Key responsibilities

· Responsible for HSE program at the Renfrew plant.

· Facilitate implementation of HSE annual objectives & improvement plans in conjunction with site operations management and business unit HSE Manager.

· Facilitate the completion of all environmental permits and program requirements specific to the site.

· Maintain records and or reports as required by Ministry of Environment Community and Parks (MOECP)

· Report, enter and submit environmental sustainability information in ESG program in Intelex monthly

· Management of site ISO 14001 Environmental Management System

· Act as an effective organizational coach and mentor which fosters and sustains a safe work culture

· Undertake at regular intervals audits/inspections of the site. Where appropriate, develop appropriate corrective and preventive actions with operations team.

· Identify site HSE training needs, develop appropriate resources, and execute training sessions for employees and management staff as required.

· Organize and facilitate site safety committee meetings (Joint health and Safety Committee).

· Support site supervisors with the investigation of HSE incidents at the site. Where necessary, lead investigation process and/or collaborate with appropriate corporate staff on serious incidents.

· Communicate HSE incidents and corrective actions in a timely, thorough, and effective manner.

· Maintain HSE records to ensure adherence to corporate polices and/or regulatory requirements. Includes, but not limited to, incident records, safety metrics, training, inspections, permits, etc.

· Other related tasks

Qualifications and skills

· Bachelor’s degree or equivalent

· 2+ years HSE experience in a manufacturing setting or equivalent experience

· Ability to drive continuous improvement in safety

· Ability to affect change through indirect leadership

· Excellent written and verbal skills

· Organized

· Must have strong critical thinking ability along with analytical and problem-solving skills

· Strong interpersonal, communication, coaching and conflict management skills

· Ability to travel infrequently
