What you'll do:

As a Utilities Technician, your responsibilities will include but are not limited to- oversee upkeep, repairs and safe operation to the building infrastructure and related support systems. Work closely with Engineering and Maintenance teams on daily operational support as well as continuous improvement initiatives across plant’s utilities systems such as electrical, HVAC, water, steam, gases and wastewater. Important areas of operations you’ll work on (but are not limited to):

 

  • Responsible for operation and troubleshooting of Portland, ME facility GMP and non-GMP systems such as mechanical, electrical, plumbing, HVAC, water purification and distribution, boilers, compressed air, nitrogen, fire protection, and wastewater.
  • Work closely with maintenance on troubleshooting and repairing systems, spare parts inventory management and preventative maintenance programs.
  • Assist Maintenance Supervisor with equipment and services quotations and purchase order processing.
  • Respond to utility and equipment related alarms, and maintenance issues.
  • Daily operation and oversight of wastewater system such as stocking/swapping pH neutralization chemicals, collecting samples for analysis, interpreting data and making system adjustments in coordination with site Environmental, Health and Safety (EHS) team.
  • Conduct routine building inspection for reliability, environmental, and health and safety factors.
  • Coordinate third party vendors work onsite, from onboarding, oversight during work, and review of satisfactory work complete by contractors.
  • Liaison with landlord property management on work requests, system upgrades, and project related activities.

What you'll need to be successful and safe:

Must have a minimum of 6-10 years’ experience as a facilities or maintenance technician or supervisor. Expected to be competent in the following areas;

  • Prior experience in facilities within the pharmaceutical or food and beverage industry preferred, but not required.
  • Hands on experience interacting with Process Controls such as (HMI), (VFD), Instrumentation and Control Devices (pumps, motors, valves).
  • Hands-on knowledge of building utility systems, Process, Mechanical, Electrical, and Plumbing.
  • Capable of working in environments requiring use of increased personal protective equipment including chemical containment suits and respiratory protection
  • Previous experience in a cGMP environment is a plus
  • Experience documenting work in a CMMS preferable
  • Wastewater treatment license and Boiler operator’s license desirable but not required. Ability to obtain licenses if not currently held.

Physical Requirements: Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds. Must be able to operate high power machinery and equipment and manipulate hand tools. Must be able to operate forklifts and other equipment integral to the job functions. Must be able to see and distinguish between labels. Must be able to stand for extended periods and walk through the facility, indoors and outdoors including roof access.

 

Working Environment: Manufacturing environment with exposure to a variety of chemicals, raw materials, ingredients and food products.

 

Salary:

The typical hiring range for this role is $30.00 per hour and is based on several factors including but not limited to education, work experience, certifications. This position may also be eligible for a shift differential and/or overtime.  In addition to your pay, Kerry offers benefits such as a comprehensive benefits package, incentive and recognition programs, equity stock purchase and retirement contribution (all benefits and incentives are subject to eligibility requirements).
