About the role

To continuously develop the preventative maintenance program for the plant to reduce breakdowns, maximising plant reliability, performance, product quality and safety. Carry out breakdown repairs safely and efficiently maintaining records in CMMS system, this is to be done in conjunction with guidance given by the Factory management and guidance form Process engineering. To work within the Peterborough Engineering team. 

Key responsibilities

Primary responsibility is for equipment reliability based on the PKSI site

The post holder will help develop and drive the TPM systems for the PKSI site

Responsible breakdown repairs and maintenance equipment with consideration for the maintenance budget in conjunction with the Engineering manager.

The post holder

  • will liaise with all levels of people on site and will need to develop effective relationships with contractors and other Kerry sites.
  • may be called on to work unsociable/long hours at times. This may include contractual overtime.
  • will work closely with Shift Managers to ensure operational practices and preventative maintenance strategies are integrated
  • maintain an understanding of current regulations and legislation as appropriate to factory / industry.

Key Accountabilites

  • Actively promote culture based safety and the application of all health, safety and quality requirements, identifying improvements in these areas where necessary
  • Manage the daily operation of the engineering maintenance function, identifying the root cause of problems and develop solutions in order to maximise efficiency and conform to internal and legal requirements.
  • Fully utilise CMMs system to ensure the engineering stores essential items are kept in stock. And business KPI’s are met.
  • Undertake day-to-day work and management of contractors ensuring that work is carried out in a safe, effective, efficient and economical manner, meeting the required standards.
  • Monitor the plant and machinery and undertake required planned, preventative maintenance to ensure that performance is continuously maximised and improved.
  • Assist the Process function with new installations, trials and CI
Qualifications and skills

Essential Skills

Time served multi skilled engineer with a bias to electrical engineering

Formal engineering qualification required such as OND, ONC, or BTECH.

Fault finding skills, including the ability to interrogate PLC’s.

Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office.

Experience of operating CDM (Contractor control)

H&S/Food Safety systems & legislation knowledge.

17th Edition qualified

General services – air; gas; water; electricity; etc.
