About the role
The 2nd shift Production Supervisor is responsible for the execution of the production schedule for processing products to meet established product quality specifications and packaging requirements while ensuring compliance to safety, environmental and regulatory policies.
Key responsibilities
- Lead and Coordinate Team Activities: Maximize efficiency by overseeing corrective actions, annual reviews, training, coaching, counseling, conflict resolution, and other disciplinary actions.
- Departmental Expertise: Gain in-depth knowledge of Batching, Agglomeration, Sifting, Milling, Blending, Bagging, SAP, and other processes. Coordinate equipment operations, procedures, SQF, HACCP, GMP, safety, sanitation, preventative maintenance programs, and personnel capabilities.
- Software Utilization and Training: Use SAP and other software for material flow transactions. Train team members on PC operations, software, PLC interfaces, instrumentation, and the importance of following SPLs and work instructions. Document all training activities.
- Employee Empowerment: Ensure employees have the necessary knowledge, training, and tools to perform tasks independently. Develop training tools as needed.
- Implementation of New Equipment: Assist in implementing new equipment, developing SOPs, and completing product qualification steps.
- Documentation and Compliance: Ensure SPLs, work instructions, and process descriptions are up-to-date, accurate, and accessible. Ensure adherence to all procedures and instructions in the production process.
- Quality Assurance: Validate CCP instrumentation to ensure compliance with quality assurance, GMP, and regulatory procedures.
- Production Scheduling: Participate in weekly scheduling meetings to develop finite production schedules. Coordinate daily operator activities to meet production and ATP requirements.
- Equipment Maintenance: Report equipment and instrumentation malfunctions immediately. Assist in troubleshooting and diagnosing problems to ensure timely repairs. Initiate maintenance work orders.
- Process Optimization: Work with the Process Development project team to optimize yields and processing parameters. Participate in process troubleshooting and HACCP teams for continuous improvement.
- Facility Cleanliness: Oversee the cleanliness, sanitation, and appearance of equipment and facilities. Ensure compliance with internal programs and regulatory codes.
- Continuous Improvement: Drive facility initiatives to achieve continual improvement in 5S (separating, sorting, scrubbing, standardizing, and systematizing).
- Production Tracking: Maintain production tracking records, reports, and spreadsheets for monthly reporting of production efficiency and KPIs.
- Personnel Scheduling: Schedule all production personnel, approve vacation requests, and arrange for coverage.
Qualifications and skills
Education: A four-year degree in Engineering, Food Technology, Business, or a related field is preferred.
Experience: 2 to 5 years of experience in a related industry, with leadership experience being highly desirable.
Technical Skills: Proficiency in SAP is preferred.
Continuous Improvement: Strong understanding of continuous improvement principles.
Lean Manufacturing: Knowledge of lean manufacturing methodologies.
Safety: A strong safety culture mindset.
Compensation Data
The typical hiring range for this role is $64,479 - $95,073 annually and is based on several factors including but not limited to education, work experience, certifications, location, etc. In addition to your pay, Kerry offers benefits such as a comprehensive benefits package, incentive and recognition programs, equity stock purchase and retirement contribution (all benefits and incentives are subject to eligibility requirements).
