About the role


We have an exciting opportunity for a Site Engineer in our Kerry site in Omagh, County Tyrone, Northern Ireland.


It is a full-time, permanent position with rotating shift pattern for days evenings and nights. The main aim of the role is to maintain factory equipment and make sure, that everything works properly, so any experience in engineering as Mechanical Engineer, Electrical Engineer, Apprentice Engineer, Engineering Team Member, Plant Engineer or Shift Engineer will be advantageous.


In Kerry Omagh we specialise in suppling various brands with products like ice creams, cream and its alternatives, custards, and yoghurt beverages. The plant has about 90 employees and includes an onsite parking, canteen, and free ice cream machine. We are conveniently positioned close to A5/A32 and bus stops (5 minutes by walk).


The role offers £13.49 per hour with 33% and 25% shift allowance for nights and evenings respectively. Increased rate will apply on Saturdays (1.5x) and Sundays (2x).

Key responsibilities


As a Site Engineer, you will have various responsibilities, which include:


  • Contribute to the timely and effective maintenance of all plant and equipment
  • Ensure, that all auxiliary services (steam, air, water etc.) plant, equipment and distribution systems are maintained
  • Carry out methodical and effective diagnostic procedures and fault rectification to electrical control panels and systems
  • Respond to call-outs as and when required, on a rota basis, to ensure continuity of engineering support to the factory
  • Ensure that a safe working environment for self, work colleagues and equipment is maintained at all times
  • Assist in the effective monitoring and control of spares stock control system
  • Adhere to company policies and procedures



Qualifications and skills


  • Relevant NVQ Level 3 Electrical qualification or recognized time electrical served apprenticeship, or Relevant NVQ Level 3 Mechanical engineering qualification or Mechanical recognized time served apprenticeship, or equivalents
  • Post qualification experience working as a technician within a fast-paced manufacturing environment
  • Mechanical and Electrical knowledge. Reading mechanical drawings. Reading wiring diagrams
  • Knowledge and practical experience PLC controlled applications in an industrial environment
  • Good written, numerical, and verbal skills
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced multi-tasking environment
  • Proven problem solving and troubleshooting skills
  • Demonstrate flexibility and adaptability to be successful in a changing environment
