About the role

The Continental Europe HSE Lead is responsible for ensuring all HSE requirement and strategic initiates are implemented within Western Europe and Europe emerging market sites, as well as developing HSE integration plans for acquisitions. They will support business by serving as subject matter expert in assigned sub-region through interpreting regulations and providing guidance on the development and implementation of HSE initiatives.

 

Key responsibilites

Key Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for communicating and executing the HSE strategic initiatives within assigned sub-region. Liaise with HSE Director to ensure all HSE Group requirements are identified and implemented.
  • Implement appropriate strategies for implementation of new or revised regulations in conjunction with corporate initiatives.
  • Design and document procedures for adherence to HSE policies and local regulations. Work with sites to review and revise on a periodic basis.
  • Assure compliance to internal HSE policies and applicable local regulations through site visits, process reviews, and development of corrective actions with local HSE and site management.
  • Complete internal Health and Safety audits and inspections. Conduct site risk assessments, identification of control measures and mitigating plans where required. Support facilities during external inspections, communications, and other interactions with regulatory agencies.
  • Communicate HSE incidents and corrective actions in a timely, thorough, and effective manner to assure understanding within assigned sub-region. Lead or participate in investigations of serious incidents within assigned sub-region.
  • Participate on project teams to assure appropriate level of HSE review during design, install, and start up process. Includes partnering with Engineering, Operations, and Quality functions to ensure integration of HSE elements into design process.
  • Execute HSE integration plans for acquisitions within assigned sub-region.
  • Identification and review of environmental objectives & targets with programmes to demonstrate compliance and continual improvement
  • Support the delivery of the regions sustainability obligations

Qualifications and skills

Qualifications:

  • BS/MS in Occupational Safety, Engineer, Environmental Science, Chemistry or related field
  • IOSH or equivalent professional accreditation
  • NEBOSH diploma or equivelent 

 

Experience:

  • Minimum 7-10 years of health, safety and environmental experience
  • Knowledge and experience with EN Standards and systems such as ISO14001
  • Knowledge and experience of Europe and Eastern Europe HSE regulations
  • Demonstrated experience of Business performance management
  • Broad manufacturing understanding and knowledge
  • Proven track record of leading to better and living our Kerry values

 

Competencies and Skills Required:.

  • Ability to manage change as required or directed by the company or legislation
  • Strong awareness of legal and regulatory changes. Bias towards pragmatic compliance with changing laws and developing mitigating actions as required
  • Management / liaison with both staff and the insurance companies regarding claims
  • Ability to read, understand, and decipher technical information in determining applicability to business processes
  • Ability to drive continuous improvement and change management initiatives
  • Experience in culture change and behavioural based safety
  • Experience with managing hazardous processes / Process safety / SEVESO / COMAH
  • Additional European Languages is a plus
