About the role
The R&D Technologist - Coating, plays an integral role within the RD&A group in executing the core development, manufacturing, and testing activities of film coating products. Reporting to the RD&A Manager, this role is responsible for carrying out coating formulation and analytical steps, ensuring they meet the highest quality standards, and adhere to Kerry standard operating procedures (SOP) and group expectations. The ideal candidate will have a technical understanding of coating finished product formulation, color chemistry, ingredient functionality, coating equipment operation, as well as the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams. The role is based out of the Kerry Norwich site, USA.
What will you do?
• Gathers data, prepares R&D samples and color matches for clients, completes all required documentation in a timely manner with high attention to detail.
• Performs batch manufacture ensuring accuracy of raw material identity, grade, amount added, sequence of addition as defined by the MBR.
• Accurately records process and lot information on finished products, MBRs, logbooks, labels, etc., as per SOPs and good documentation practices.
• Conduct in-process testing and finished product characterization, including color-testing for coated products.
• Operates various equipment and instrumentation in a safe manner. This may include, but not be limited to mixers, coating machines, blenders, tablet presses, balances, sieve-shakers, hardness/friability/disintegration testers, etc.
• Performs balance verifications and troubleshoot routine equipment problems.
• Responsible for assembling and cleaning of equipment according to SOPs.
• In charge of maintaining physical raw material inventory, including monitoring quantities and expiry dates and initiating material requests, appropriately.

• Possess scientific curiosity, effective time management and the ability to work both in a team and with minimal supervision.
• Takes initiative to help and collaborate with other members, when required.
What will you need to be successful?
• 2-3 years of experience in Pharmaceutical or Excipient formulation. Technical background in manufacturing coating products / coated OSD forms is desirable.
• Bachelor's or technical degree in a scientifically related field preferred but not required. • Ability to comprehend detailed written instructions and procedures.
• Good understanding of coating equipment operation & color matching principles.
• Exceptional use of calculator and math skills related to arithmetic, metric conversions, and percentages to perform accurate data calculations.
• Communication fluency in English, both oral and written.
• Ability to work with cross-functional teams at multi levels within the organization.
• Effectively provides to, and seeks feedback from, other team members as required
• Experience working in an SAP environment is desirable.
• Must possess the physical ability to lift up to 50 lbs, push/pull up heavy equipment on wheels.
Compensation Data
The typical hiring range for this role is $52,543 to $77,039 annually and is based on several factors including but not limited to education, work experience, certifications, location, etc. In addition to your pay, Kerry offers benefits such as a comprehensive benefits package, incentive and recognition programs, equity stock purchase and retirement contribution (all benefits and incentives are subject to eligibility requirements).
