What the Role Is

 

The Production Scheduler facilitates the production schedule through data entry of Manufacturing orders, coordination of materials between the warehouse/production facility, and insuring updated process descriptions accompany paperwork to the production floor. This role must demonstrate leadership in the area of safety.  This requires observing and enforcing safety rules and practices, encouraging safe work behaviors, and promptly correcting conditions and unsafe behavior, which may lead to accidents. The effective interaction and communication directly with Business Units/Product Management Groups, Facility Managers, Customer Service, Production, Quality Control, Shipping Commercial and I.T/Data Processing on a regular basis is critical to success.

 

What You'll Do

 

  • Sequencing manufacturing orders to insure minimal downtime, considering scheduling aspects of Kosher, Allergens and clean outs in order to maximize campaign times and capacity. 
  • Managing SAP systems governing inventory transactions.
  • Ensuring aged inventory action items (rework and/or other) are included in future manufacturing orders to control loss, waste and rotation of inventory. 
  • Communicating material transfer requests to/from the warehouse to ensure production has materials at the production facility in time for blending and manufacturing. 
  • Leading weekly scheduling review with production, maintenance and quality groups.
  • Preparing and distributing Production Schedules to the stagers and production teams.
  • Work in close cooperation with internal team and vendors to schedule maintenance projects, equipment inspections, and Kosher campaigns.
  • Other duties may be assigned or performed based on production needs.

 

What You'll Need

 

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Materials Management, Business Administration or related field or equivalent experience.  APICS or CPM Certificate preferred or equivalent Process Line experience  
  • 2-3 years experience with major MRP Software. Sound understanding of inventory management principles and cost accounting or equivalent Process Line experience 
  • 3 years Food Industry experience and extensive logistics/planning/purchasing experience preferred.
  • A history of demonstrating attention to detail, leadership, strong interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to deal in a pleasant and professional manner with people from other companies and to maintain effective working relationships with corporate and plant personnel. 
  • Effective oral and written communications skill with subordinates, peers, and upper management. General knowledge of good management techniques, materials management and planning techniques.
  • WORK ENVIRONMENT AND PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to use hands to finger, handle or feel objects, tools or controls, sit and reach with hands and arms.  The employee is occasionally required to stand and walk, climb stairs, stoop, kneel or crouch and hear and lift up to fifty pounds.  Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus.
  • The usual workspace is an office environment. The noise level is usually quiet.  Occasional presence in the production site is necessary.
