Our Norwich, NY location is part of our Applied Health and Nutrition Division and one of our specialty sites that creates proteins, lactose, coatings, and flavors. The location lies within Chenango County and is advantageously located within a 50-mile radius of the major cities of Binghamton, Syracuse, Utica, Cooperstown and Oneonta.

Monday - Friday, 5:45 AM - 2:15 PM (Day Shift)
The wage for this role is $21.00 - $25.00 per hour and is based on several factors including but not limited to education, work experience, and certifications. This position may also be eligible for a shift differential and/or overtime. What you'll do:
Identifies and organizes equipment parts into physical locations while entering part information into a computerized Maintenance Management Program. Purchases materials, supplies and equipment as needed for Norwich, based upon specifications established by Kerry. Purchases at lowest cost consistent with approved quality and delivery standards. Coordinates purchases with various departments to satisfy needs. Supports maintenance technicians and participates in departmental training.
Key responsibilities
- Inventories spare parts in all storeroom locations biannually, entering inventory counts in computerized maintenance management program.
- Work with 3rd party vendors, maintenance technicians, and other departments to maintain consumable inventory at established minimums.
- Orders consumable parts as indicated by parts usage form and/or work orders, coordinated with maintenance buyer to avoid duplicate orders.
- Inventories “critical spare parts” daily to ensure availability of high-use items.
- Maintains the parts areas and stock rooms in clean, neat, and organized conditions including proper labeling and tagging of part numbers.
- Responsible to add/delete spare parts in computerized maintenance management program as needed to align with new part models and descriptions.
- Ships and receive department parts as required.
- Responsible for removal of department hazardous waste such as oil, solvent, etc. Have these items removed by licensed hauler.
- Coordinates availability of spare parts by tagging and staging for planned work orders.
- Must be able to lift 50lbs.
- Attend daily department meetings and participate in departmental training.
- Support maintenance technicians with confined space entry, fire-watch, and spotting working at height activity.
- Follow plant rules, procedures and safety regulations including personal protective equipment.
Qualifications and skills
What you'll need to be successful and safe:
EDUCATION:
• High school diploma or GED required.
• Post-high school vocational training is desired.
EXPERIENCE:
• 2-3 years’ experience in inventory management or industrial maintenance.
• Experience using computerized maintenance management or inventory management system.
• Knowledge of industrial manufacturing plants and related processes.
• Technical knowledge regarding mechanical and industrial components preferred.
SKILLS
• Ability to work through technical maintenance challenges independently or with other maintenance
personnel to provide logical solutions.
• Kitting of components to support planned work orders using CMMS system
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Must have strong computer experience. Ability to learn and use various software packages and MRP
programs.
WORK ENVIRONMENT AND PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
A Storeroom Specialist will be subject to working on a computer for 50% of the time and in the storeroom the remaining 50%. Field work in the manufacturing plant may be required to support maintenance technicians. Storeroom work includes bending and using a step stool. May occasionally require the ability to lift 50 lbs. and to regularly lift 25 lbs.
