Our Norwich, NY location is part of our Applied Health and Nutrition Division and one of our specialty sites that creates proteins, lactose, coatings, and flavors. The location lies within Chenango County and is advantageously located within a 50-mile radius of the major cities of Binghamton, Syracuse, Utica, Cooperstown and Oneonta.

What you'll do:
SHIFT: 7:15pm-7:45am Working 3 on, 3 off, 2 on, 2 off - every other weekend off.
Under the direction of the Department Supervisor and/or Shift Group Leader, the Filter Operator is responsible for filtering all hydrolyzed protein batches according to requirements.
$19.00 + $2.50 shift differential
The wage for this role is $19.00 per hour. This position may also be eligible for a shift differential and/or overtime. Key responsibilities
Filter hydrolysate batches for optimum clarity, at a minimum of time, at proper pH and temperature and according to whatever other in-process standards may be set forth for a particular product.
- When operating filters must be able to lift up to 55# at an interval of 2 bags every minute.
- Know and use proper procedure for use and care of all filters.
- Understand all pipeline routes for product and CIP, concerned with filtering.
- The filter operator must be able to make adjustments as far as pressure, amount of filter aid used, and changing filters, to keep filtration times down.
- Individual should be able to operate forklift truck in a safe manner and use proper safety measures.
- Demonstrates leadership in the area of safety. This requires observing and enforcing safety rules and practices, encouraging safe work behaviors, and promptly correcting conditions and unsafe behavior, which may lead to accidents.
- May be required to handle hazardous waste (internal training provided).
- Individual must operate toluene recovery system.
- Individual will be responsible for ensuring all transactions in SAP are accurate
Qualifications and skills
What you'll need to be successful and safe:
- High school diploma or GED preferred
- Previous experience in a manufacturing environment preferred
- Have a good working knowledge of arithmetic and be confident in its use.
- Be neat and consistent in whatever this individual does.
- Be able to write clearly and legibly.
- Be able to read and understand written instructions from the department supervisor or shift group leader.
- Be capable of strict adherence to company policies and yet able to use common sense in making many daily decisions required in this position.
- Individual should be capable of adjusting his/her work schedule to the requirements of the department.
- Individual should realize that overtime is sometimes required in order to complete a particular batch or batching sequence.
