About the Role:

 

The RD&A Scientist will be responsible for the development of Meat Coatings systems and meat seasonings in conjunction with the Thai RD&A team. Working in partnership with customers to develop innovative concepts as well as renovating current products. All products concepts are tailored to customer specific needs and to deliver in terms of taste, functionality and nutrition. Our RD&A team collaborates with a global network of chefs, marketing and sensory experts to deliver products to market within launch timescales.

The RD&A Scientist will also report our RD&A Manager for Meat Systems who is based out of Thailand, Bangkok. 

 

Key responsibilites

 

  • Lead development on projects initiated by European customers that will be produced in Thailand.
  • Develop innovative solutions to help grow customer and Kerry’s market within cost parameters, manufacturing capability whilst ensuring all new products are legal within country of use.
  • Develops food system formulations and related applications stability performance through demonstrated understanding of food formulation and chemical interactions.
  • Ensures that ingredient functionality will meet customer expectations. Oversees projects from customer or internal brief through to hand over to Thai team for production at factory stage.
  • Create value added products with a point of difference from our competitors continuing to lead in the market through manufacture process and ingredient knowledge.
  • Provide our customers with the best available products through developing an understanding the market, manufacturing capabilities, ingredient restrictions etc.
  • Work closely with Commercial Managers and fellow technologists in understanding the market customer needs and offer the necessary technical solutions.
  • Maintain awareness of developments across Kerry, with a focus on Thailand, building these into new developments providing USP’s for customers.
  • Carry out competitor & product awareness analysis – including sensory product evaluations and carrying out own retail reviews as required typically in conjunction with business development.

 

Qualifications and skills

 

  • Applicants should possess Food Science Degree or equivalent
  • Minimum of 5 years working in a New Product Development environment (demonstrates creativity, practical skills & enjoyment of food)
  • Previous experience within the meat industry with expertise knowledge in:
    • Processed/manufactured meat production and ingredients
  • Ideally, some experience of working with a variety of product areas within Meat Technology (marinate, seasoning as well as coating system)
  • Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple tasks simultaneously either in structured or non-structured work environment
  • Well-organized and methodical, yet flexible to changing priorities
  • Some lab management experience will be advantageous
  • Willing to travel within the region (EU) for customer visits as well as Thailand for Training.
