About the role

This is an exciting opportunity for a Principal Meat Scientist to join our team of passionate food creatives.

 

In this role you will be working as part of the Meat Pan European RD&A team based in Naas, while also travelling to support our customers in their production facilities throughout Europe when required on an occasional basis.

What will I be doing?

  • You will work on Global Customer Accounts, Application Innovation, Technology Innovation and Proactive Validation.
  • You will also be one of the key subject matter experts for driving strategic growth through collaboration with our sibling business units in meats.
  • Working in a fast-paced environment, responsible for the application and demonstration of ingredient products sold to into the meat and related industries.
  • Design and conduct research including new product development and application work for the meat industry.
  • Maintain an active working knowledge of a range of Kerry technologies and innovations.
  • Work with cross functional groups to optimise the strengths of Kerry and deliver the best technical Taste and Nutrition experience for our customers.
  • Field customer requests both internal and external to satisfy project needs from a conceptual phase through troubleshooting, commercialization, and plant level manufacturing.

What do I need to be successful?

In Kerry we understand that people have very different career trajectories and experiences. In order to be successful in this role we would be looking for the right competencies and aptitudes as well as your proven track record of success in a similar role and environment.

 

These include:

  • Strong meat formulation knowledge and experience in a commercial meat plant or R&D  facility setting
  • Understanding and experience in the functionalities and application of functional ingredients, taste ingredients and other technologies in the context of meat formulations and processing
  • Strong technical knowledge across a variety of meat processes in essential, Strong technical knowledge on meat formulations, technologies and ingredients
  • Minimum BSc/MSc in Food Science or related scientific field with experience in data collation
  • Team player, willing to support and work with technology focused scientists and the wider meat team both in Kerry and with our sales staff and their customers.
  • Good communicator, both verbal and written with attention to detail
  • Ability to perform consistently in a fast-paced environment by trouble shooting and problem solving
  • Capacity to be flexible and multi-task, ability to work to challenging timelines
  • Analysis and reporting (verbal and written for technical and non-technical audiences) using a scientific approach
