About the role


Following the successful restructure of the Engineering function at our Menstrie Yeast production facility, we are now recruiting for an EUS Engineer to ensure we adhere to regulatory and company standards in respect of all energy usage and environmental issues on site.  With a rich heritage dating back 275 years, the facility produces thousands of tonnes of yeast products each year for a range of household brands across the global food and drinks industry. 

Key responsibilities

 

  • Demonstrates leadership in the area of Health & Safety for Engineering activities, promoting a strong safety culture at all times and complies to current QSHE and Kerry standards.
  • Ensures Kerry policies and standards are implemented and adhered to while ensuring regional, national and local legislative requirements are met by the site engineering function and external services/contractors.
  • Responsible for ensuring Utility Service Providers fulfil all regional, national and local legislative regulatory requirements through KPI monitoring and tracking.
  • Retrieve reliable data collection systems, perform regular analysis, recommends and implements effluent, energy and utility reduction & improvement initiatives.  Supports the energy strategy in line with best practice.
  • Prepares, publishes & distributes weekly and monthly reports to both site & group stakeholders on compliance and utility performance.
  • Develops / maintains process and systems documentation including but not limited to P&ID, written scheme of examinations, SOP’s (standard operating procedures), SSOW’s (safe system of work), operational and maintenance manuals.
  • Ensures accurate reporting of fuel, heat & energy consumption sources to support ETS compliance (Emissions Trading Scheme).  Working with appointed verifiers and local environment bodies to required time scales.
  • Works closely with site and energy procurement for all areas of energy sourcing, provides feedback on changing site requirements and supplier performance.
  • Ensures professional working relationships with regulatory bodies and their employees assigned to the site with respect to energy and utility requirements.
  • Participates in EUS process and equipment risk assessments in order to optimise engineering / hygienic design, personnel safety, environmental and quality compliance.
  • Supports implementation of small-scale capital improvement projects and/or trials to agreed timeframes, budget and scope limits including the management of internal or external resources to complete such projects.
  • Maintain and deploy a broad knowledge of industry trends and regulatory compliance within EUS and where possible implement new processes or technology innovation to enhance Kerry manufacturing capability.
  • Utilise site-based CMMS (Computerised Maintenance Management System) to capture and track any non-conformance maintenance requirements to ensure compliance with standards.

 

Qualifications and skills

 

  • Degree in Environmental, Manufacturing, Engineering or relevant Science discipline
  • 3+ years’ experience in Engineering Utilities, Food Manufacturing or Processing Engineer
  • Up to date knowledge of local, national & regional codes of practice and EUS regulations is essential.  Applying these in conjunction with / or experience of Food Safety Standards is highly desirable.
  • Positive mindset, can-do attitude, flexible and open to change

  • Ability to work independently with a minimum of guidance from management
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with experience of report writing and maintaining accurate records.
  • Proven track record in building solid working relationships across multi-functional teams
  • Highly analytical with strong MS Office skills, particularly Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint
  • Strong knowledge of Health, safety and environmental regulation
  • Excellent organisation and prioritisation skills
