About the role

 

We have an opportunity for a research, Development and Application (RDA) Intern to join our Menstrie site on a 12-month placement.

 

The site in Stirling, Scotland is the global production centre for Kerry EMEA Yeast Business.  We manufacturer yeast-based ingredients for a variety of food and cell nutrition applications as well as being a leading supplier of yeast to the whisky industry.

 

The site has a manufacturing history dating back over 250 years, tracing its origins back to a whisky distillery on the site. The current plant has been largely developed over the last 30 years and is now a highly sophisticated, leading edge semi continuous process plant with high levels of automation, process control and hygienic design standards.

Key responsibilities

 

  • Performing experiments in a laboratory.
  • Reporting results in a clear and concise manner.
  • Supporting RD&A through working with various Kerry systems.
  • Handling materials and dispatching samples.
  • Day-to-day laboratory organisation.
  • Functioning under an Operating Model that is aligned to the Kerry Operating Model to deliver best-in-class ways of working that will be embedded in systems to optimise and sustain best practice.
  • Satisfying consumer and customer needs faster, better, and more completely than competitors.

Qualifications and skills

 

  • Studying Microbiology, Biology, Food Science, Brewing/Distilling Science, or related scientific degrees such as Chemistry and on track for a 2:1 degree classification.
  • Motivated and persistent performer with the determination and drive to succeed.
  • Good laboratory skills.
  • Good communication skills.
  • Strong ability to interpret results and organise follow up work.
  • Strong ability to work well in a team and on your own.
  • Good working knowledge of Microsoft office – Word, PowerPoint, Excel.
  • Good organisational and time management skills.
