About the role

Following a successful restructure of the Engineering function we are now recruiting for three Maintenance Team Leads to oversee day to day maintenance activities at our Menstrie Yeast production facility.   This site has a rich heritage, dating back 275 years when a distillery was first founded on site.  Today it produces thousands of tonnes of yeast products each year for well known brands across the global food and drinks industry. 

Key responsibilities


  • Demonstrates leadership in the area of health & safety.  Ensures all engineering and maintenance activities on site meet the appropriate health and safety standards.
  • Ensures applicable Kerry policies and standards are implemented and adhered to while ensuring regional, national and local legislative requirements are met by the site engineering function including external services/contractors.
  • Provides and monitors maintenance performance against defined KPI’s, taking immediate corrective action and developing systemic preventative actions to address variances.
  • Communicates key messages on performance or impending issues that may affect plant or production performance.
  • Collaborates with other functions to deliver a ‘best practice’ engineering approach is supporting all quality, KMS and FSSC actions through effective leadership of engineering owned areas.
  • Engages with internal customers and other functional teams in a positive, professional and credible manner.
  • Support or leads the daily and weekly Engineering meetings to review priorities and planned maintenance activities, escalating as required.
  • Motivates their team through effective leadership, coaching, people management and development including.
  • Manages and delivers the weekly maintenance works schedule through; daily scheduling of small ad-hoc corrective maintenance requests, controlling the day to day maintenance activities and ensuring asset performance is optimised through completion of all planned maintenance.
  • Promotes a Continuous Improvement (CI) in all engineering and maintenance works and encourages the use of CI tools across their teams.
  • Applies technical and problem-solving skills to correct equipment problems causing excessive production downtime and maintenance work.
  • Support and execute the site KAMS excellence journey.
  • Oversees and manages all contractors under Engineering control through managing work standards and adherence to QSHE standards.
  • First Line escalation point for Engineering issues. Deputises for Maintenance Manager as required.

Qualifications and skills


  • Positive mindset, can-do attitude, flexible and open to change
  • 3+ years’ experience within a similar with line management responsibility.
  • Food industry knowledge.
  • Excellent troubleshooting ability
  • Proven track record building solid working relationships
  • Knowledgeable in Maintenance best practice and CMMS systems (SAP PM)
  • Strong MS Office skills including Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Good technical analysis ability and proficient in writing reports
  • Ability to interpret CAD drawings for electrical, mechanical and facilities applications.
  • Excellent organisation skills
  • Evidence of excellent English verbal and written communication skills, including technical documentation and the expanded use of this information.
