About the role

Key responsibilities

The role of the Shift Electrician is to provide electrical and instrumentation systems troubleshooting, breakdown response, installation support and preventative maintenance.  The Shift Electrician will work in partnership with a Shift Mechanical Engineer.


This role requires close co-operation and communication with operations teams to avoid unnecessary downtime and to plan access to plant.  All work will be driven and directed through SAP, with timely feedback required on all work orders.

This position is based on Menstrie site.

It is a shift position.  The successful candidate will be on a continental 5-crew shift pattern with fixed rostered holidays


Qualifications and skills






  • Time-served Electrician with relevant industrial experience
  • Trained to 17th Edition Electrical Standards level





  • 5+ years’ experience in a similar role
  • Strong and up to date knowledge of local, national & regional codes of practice.
  • Ability to work independently with a minimum of guidance from management


  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills are required


  • Good analytical and troubleshooting skills


  • Good knowledge of Health and Safety requirements


  • Knowledge of VSD systems
  • Knowledge of PLC systems
  • Knowledge of food safety and hygienic engineering
  • Knowledge of Instrumentation kit to include temperature probes, level and pressure transmitters, flowmeters and automatic valves etc





  • Good organisation skills
  • Evidence of excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Able to work within a dynamic team environment.
  • Provide examples of safe working practices.



  1. Completion of work orders as directed through SAP
  2. Ability to tackle 90% of tasks on shift with limited supervision
  3. Contribute to low plant downtime on critical plant items
