About the role


Following the successful restructure of the Engineering function at our Menstrie Yeast production facility, we are now recruiting for four Multi-skilled Maintenance Engineers to carry out planned, preventive and reactive maintenance activities within a given section of the facility.   With a rich heritage going back 275 years, the facility produces thousands of tonnes of yeast products each year for a range of household brands across the global food and drinks industry

Key responsibilities

 

  • Approaches all tasks with a ‘Safety first, Quality always’ approach and completes dynamic & planned risk assessments and quality hand back forms as required.
  • Always promotes a strong safety culture through compliance with current QSHE standards, applicable Kerry policies and engineering standards.
  • Supports the creation of standard operating procedures (SOP’s) for repeatable maintenance tasks.
  • Supports focussed improvement initiatives within area of ownership and works with other area functions to improve the production area.
  • Identifies improvements and highlights these with the maintenance function for awareness and completion (small improvements should be completed as standard)
  • Adopts a ‘One Team’ approach with the production teams across each process area and transfers knowledge through the asset care strategy
  • Contacts OEM's and other suppliers for technical support as and when required.
  • Ensures all plant issues are resolved efficiently and effectively to optimise plant throughput across all areas of the plant (production, process and utilities)
  • Uses own plant knowledge to support prioritisation of engineering issues that arise throughout the shift with breakdowns taking prioritisation over other planned works
  • Responsible for completion of Planned and Preventative Maintenance to agreed schedules
  • Diagnose faults to test, repair and maintain Mechanical / Electrical equipment
  • Observes, recognises and reports on machinery or component defects or symptoms of impending failure and provide SAP CMMS data
  • Updates all engineering systems with required information as per Kerry policies (SAP/Change control/SCADA etc)
  • Support and execute the site KAMS excellence journey.
  • Escalates all engineering issues through the Maintenance Team Leader or responsible function.
  • Uses and supports departmental 5s programmes for workshops and stores

Qualifications and skills

 

  • A relevant Electrical, Mechanical, Control & Instrumentation trade qualification, diploma or degree.
  • 3+ years within a manufacturing environment, food industry knowledge is a distinct advantage.
  • Positive mindset, can-do attitude, flexible and open to change

  • Excellent troubleshooting and technical analysis ability, proficient in report writing.
  • Knowledgeable in Maintenance best practice and CMMS systems
  • Strong computer skills in Microsoft programs Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Fully proficient in interpreting CAD drawings for electrical, mechanical and facilities applications.
  • Excellent organisation skills
  • Fluent in English with excellent verbal and written communication skills, demonstrating the value of technical record keeping and the expanded use of this information.
