Job Description – Dayshift Mechanical Engineer

 

The primary role of the Dayshift Mechanical Engineer is to carry out maintenance and improvement work across a range of plant unit operations as directed by SAP requests. This is a dayshift position, with a requirement to cover one weekend in three. 

The Dayshift Mechanical Engineer is responsible carrying out planned and corrective maintenance activities across propagation, yeast extract, roller driers, spray driers and services. This will support plant reliability, reduce downtime and increase throughput.  The candidate maintains appropriate records and files to permit meaningful analysis and reporting of results or work done through SAP.

 

 In the performance of his/her duties, the Dayshift Mechanical Engineer will:

  • Carry out task under the direction of the Maintenance Team Leader, Assistant Maintenance Manager or Maintenance Manager
  • Manage their duties to ensure tasks are completed and reported in a timely fashion
  • Liaise with appropriate personnel with respect to plant availability
  • Examines jobs to be done and carries out appropriate risk assessments
  • Predominantly focus on mechanical aspects of tasks
  • Performs other duties as assigned

Qualifications and skills

Qualifications

  • Time-served training preferred.
  • Experience with SAP. 
  • Good understanding of mechanical and systems.
  • Should have good oral / written communication skills,.
  • Good administrative and mathematical skills with willingness to handle paperwork.
  • Have a good working knowledge of IT..
  • Able to read blueprints and shop drawings.
  •  Food industry experience preferred.
