About the role

Located just outside of Chicago, our Melrose Park location is part of our Meat division and creates batter blends, pastry blends, and bread crumbs. We are a fast-paced, never a dull moment manufacturing facility that comes together as a team to get the job done. With a growing portfolio, comes the need to grow our team! What You'll Do

As the Production Group/Line Lead, you will be responsible for directing crew members towards achieving the highest level of efficient production 

Key Responsibilities Identifies existing or future bottlenecks and tracks product loss.

Reviews daily production work orders, maintains and manages documentation.

Checks production tools supplies and places orders for production.

Receives packaging specs and work orders to determine product to be produced and ensures that all packaging material and labels are correct.

Ensures all safety rules are adhered to; communicating issues or concerns that cannot be resolved by crew or supervisors.

Operates production equipment, follows safety guidelines, and ensures crew members follow safety policies.

Performs and assigns general housekeeping and sanitation responsibilities of the line daily according to GMP's, communicating specific sanitation duties to all crew members.

Monitors all product quality and product safety documentation to ensure proper procedures are followed.

Reports production data as specified.

Updates communication board daily and conducts one on one shift change meetings with incoming lead.

Performs and assigns all QC testing required in the department during the shift.

Ensures all HACCP and CQP documentation and checks are performed as prescribed by applicable procedures.

Trains crew members in the different areas of responsibility within the production line.

Participates in Eye For Safety and Eye for Quality programs.

Operates a hand held scanner to manage manufacturing software to record all manufacturing transactions and maintain inventory accuracy.

Such as: Issuing ingredients to Manufacturing order (IP), Reporting production of items (RM), Printing labels, Inventory inquiries, product location transfer and other related activities.

Reconciling department staging area using RF tools.

Other duties may be assigned.

The employee frequently works near moving mechanical parts.


Qualifications and skills

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE: Six months to one year related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of training and experience.

LANGUAGE SKILLS: Must be able to communicate effectively. Ability to speak and read the English language in order to interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, procedure manuals, MOs, and other related policies and procedures. Bilingual Spanish preferred. 

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS: Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent, and ability to draw and interpret bar graphs.

REASONING ABILITY: Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations. Has the ability to recognize issues and escalate to appropriate person. CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS: None required PHYSICAL DEMANDS: The physical demands described are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to extreme heat.   The employee frequently is required to stand, talk, hear, taste, or smell.  The employee must regularly maneuver and/or move up to 150 to 300 pounds and frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.      Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus
