Key responsibilities

 

We are currently seeking a dynamic HR Manager for our Melrose Park, Illinois facility.  This key leadership position will set HR and People strategies at the facility, while demonstrating strong change management and continuous improvement abilities.  The HR Manager will lead all HR initiatives with a focus on staffing strategy, employee relations, recruitment, onboarding, performance and talent management, coaching and counseling, and partnering on training strategies.

Strategy Development

Identify potential gaps and develop recommendations and strategies to minimize risks in the facility.

  • Partner with peers in Human Resources and Operations Leadership to drive consistent application of Kerry’s policies and practices across the location.
  • Partner with operations leadership to identify talent gaps and coach in the development of plans to address them.
  • Drive engagement and recognition programs at the business leadership level.

Influencing and Coaching

Partner with Operations Leaders to assess and implement an optimal organizational design to support business growth.

  • Coach leaders on appropriate and proactive management techniques and make timely and informed decisions on when to escalate issues.
  • Act as a key member of the site leadership team to drive group cohesiveness, project deliverables and HR KPI’s
  • Lead and Develop HR Resources within the plant to enable growth and career opportunities across the facility.

Recruiting

Partner with Plant Manager to develop workforce plans and recruitment strategies to include proactive recruitment on hard to fill or known upcoming vacancies.

  • Identify and apply multiple recruiting strategies to ensure a timely and appropriate response to fill open positions. Minimize time to fill open requisitions while improving the fit and onboarding experience of new hires.

HR Programs

  • Analyze, interpret, develop, and implement HR policies, programs, and procedures as appropriate
  • Proactively provide positive labor relations and contract administration.
  • Champion the talent management process at the site and partner with leaders to develop and update development plans for employees.
  • Support leaders with the performance management, individual development plans and pay planning processes.
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements: EEOC/AA, ADAAA, FMLA and other leaves in addition to any state specific requirements.
  • Proactively develop a plan and staff a graduate pipeline to fill critical roles within the business.

Qualifications and skills

 

Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution in Human Resources, Business or related field. 

  • 5-7 years progressive experience in the HR function, preferably in a manufacturing environment.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.  Ability to speak Spanish is strongly preferred.
  • Previous experience in a unionized environment is preferred.
  • SPHR or the SHRM equivalent is a plus.
  • Experience supporting site level leadership with workforce analysis to include structure, recruitment, compensation, projects etc.
  • Proven ability to develop effective business partnerships at all levels.
  • Leads the development of a culture of accountability, collaboration and excellence.
  • Easy to approach with the ability to engage employees and be a strong employee advocate while maintaining company values and contract provisions.
