Located just outside of Chicago, our Melrose Park location is part of our Meat division and creates batter blends, pastry blends, and breadcrumbs. We have 2nd and 3rd Operator positions in Melrose Park, Illinois. Kerry has over 41 sites across North America. Our Melrose Park facility plant is part of the Meat division business and has 170 employees. This site is growing operations and investing capital in improvement projects. We are looking for someone comfortable working on 2nd or 3rd shift.



2nd or 3rd Shift Operator




Include the following but not limited to:

  • Starts and operates scale/packer/sealer to position bag in machine for the filling of finished product.  Inspects filled container to ensure proper seal of bag.
  • Keep production records of product number, lot numbers, bag weights, downtime and changeover time while maintaining integrity of product.
  • Operates/monitors the label machine and unicorn printer as well as making the necessary adjustments to ensure that proper product identification labels are on finished product as required by customer and in-house Quality Control Department.
  • Performs metal detector checks per company policy.
  • Starts, monitors and makes necessary adjustments to the automatic palletizer for proper stacking sequence to meet customer requirements and in-house Quality Control Department requirements.
  • Assures that all product changes are free from cross contamination to ensure of product integrity.  
  • Replenishes all packaging supplies to the packer/sealer/ labelaire, unicorn printer and palletizer while achieving target goals and a quality product
  • Performing a wide variety of miscellaneous duties which may include sweeping, cleaning of line, removing garbage, etc.
  • Participate in safety programs such as safety orientation, safety committee, ergonomic committee, monthly regulatory safety trainings and Eye for safety program.
  • May perform any other duties assigned by leadership.
  • Required to maintain adequate performance levels as directed.
  • Must be punctual and attend scheduled hours as instructed.
  • Ability to work within a team environment. 



  • To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty to satisfaction. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill and/or ability required.
  • Must be able to work 2nd or 3rd shift.
  • High school education or equivalent; minimum of one-year related experience in a manufacturing environment; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as packaging sheets, safety rules, work instructions, procedure manuals and LOTO instructions.  Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.  Ability to perform these operations manually or with a calculator.
  • Ability to apply common sense to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems outside of standardized situations.

  • While performing the duties of the job, the employee is regularly exposed to flour dust and temperature extremes associated with summer and winter weather fluctuations (60-105 degrees). Employee must work under time restraints. The noise level is moderate to high and hearing protection will be required when over 85DB. The employee is exposed to moving mechanical parts.
