About the role


Work Location: Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia

Reporting To: Procurement Director – CAPEX & IMAS (Indirect Materials & Services)

This role will be responsible for all Indirect Procurement for Capex and IMAS for Kerry across the APMEA Region (Asia Pacific, Middle East and Africa). In this role, the successful candidate is expected to plan and execute regional sourcing activities within the category assigned, with the goal of achieving cost reductions, while maintaining / improving service quality and vendor service levels.

The Regional Indirect & Capex Buyer will be accountable for about EUR 70-80 million per annum spend on Indirect Materials and Services across Kerry sites in APMEA. The role will also require close collaboration and positive relationship building cross-functionally in Kerry to deliver key strategies for sustainable growth. 

Key responsibilities


•Develop, plan and execute regional sourcing strategies across APMEA
•Procurement of goods and services across multiple categories as required by the Business on time, cost efficiently and meeting client’s needs
•Track and analyse performance within each spend category and define budgetary impact on technology and/or country P&L
•Lead vendor selection and negotiation process for regional vendors
•Recruit and maintain suppliers who will provide high quality products and services at a better price while maintaining the highest code of ethics and conduct
•Negotiate contracts and maintain day to day relationships with suppliers, including establishing supplier performance measures, conducting regular reviews focused on achieving “service performance and deal delivery”
•Develop, agree and implement KPIs for suppliers, service levels and supplier management
•Provide local market intelligence for assigned portfolio including documented sourcing analyses, supply scenario comparisons and supplier research
•Analyse spend patterns across portfolio or category (s) for site and/or country and provide constructive challenge to stakeholders on their spending decisions
•Collaborate cross-functionally in the region to implement category-sourcing initiatives
•Perform end-to-end activities relevant to procurement of assigned Category including, but not limited to:

  1. Negotiate complex requests for services
  2. Ensure categories are contracted in line with the sourcing strategy to avoid maverick buying
  3. Ensure master agreements are properly codified into local contracts for the region
  4. Prepare and issue purchase contracts and change notices
  5. Prepare and review contracts, bids, proposals and vendor agreements for legal correctness, price and acceptability of items to specifications
  6. Develop and utilize a system to evaluate vendor quotations with the appropriate negotiation and purchasing techniques to ensure quality, price, delivery and service 
  7. Directly solve operational issues with vendors
  8. Review and resolve vendor claims and contracts for conformance to company policy
  9. Monitor procurement reporting systems to meet company requirements
  10. Capture real savings in the region

Qualifications and skills


•Minimum 5-7 years of related experience in the procurement of Plant based, Capex Categories (Construction, Equipment’s etc.) and Indirect Materials & Services such as MRO, Spare Parts, Waste Management, Plant Maintenance, Plant 3rd party services, Plant HR services, Temporary Labour etc.
•Strong matrix management & negotiation skills
•Ability to multi-task and work in a highly demanding and fast paced environment; must be comfortable working in a very hands-on role as part of a lean team 
•Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with a project management background
