About the role

In this role, you will dynamically lead the Powder Blends, Spray Drier and Liquid Compounding Manufacturing areas including: Wash, Reaction, and emulsion. Motivate and guide People Development while you engage the team to improve performance behaviours to drive production efficiencies. Set the strategy and objective setting for the team. Drive the materials supply chain in the department from receipt of product through to completion for Customer. Drive improvements in Safety, Quality, Production and Lean Manufacturing to improve through-put, reduce costs, drive sustainable efficiencies, and meet Customer expectations. 

Key responsibilities

  • Operational Excellence: Set and drive the strategic delivery of engineering and manufacturing excellence in Powder Blends, Spray Drier and Liquid. 
  • Lead and deliver on production/process improvement initiatives including, new equipment/process changes to increase capacity, lower quality errors and increase safety performance. Deliver on lowering Cost per Kg and other initiatives as approved including capital improvement projects. 
  • Ensure all relevant targets / KPI’s are met in adherence with the production plan and standards set 
  • Ensure Quality and SHE standards are achieved and maintained in the department 
  • Coordinate production activities with the maintenance, quality, supply chain and warehouse departments to achieve sustained and improved efficiencies 
  • Plan the allocation department personnel to expedite production, maximize efficiencies and meet production KPI’s and scorecard 
  • Ensure the optimal use of SAP in production execution including reviewing production data, and reporting information and variances to factory management team 
  • Deliver the department’s functional goals including financial, quality and people development 
  • Communicate and keep team updated on all matters relevant to the department in a timely and appropriate manner 
  • Continuous Improvement: Guide Lean excellence and principles throughout the department in collaboration with Operational Excellence group, site leadership and operations employees. Ensure excellent product quality assurance through compliance to formulas and procedures (FSSC), proper GMPs and thorough sanitation.   
  • Lead initiatives to improve troubleshooting, resolution, and prevention of recurring first pass yield failures, internal rejections, and customer complaints. Provide leadership to accomplish targeted levels of customer service, including on-time and complete shipments. 
  • Champion and drive continuous improvement activities using lean/six sigma methodology and visual management tools to optimize operational efficiency and eliminate waste   
  • Ensure all operators are fully trained and that training happens in a timely manner and according to process instructions  
  • Ensure that all data processing is done in a timely manner and is up to date and accurate 
  • Ensure that all employees are aware of and comply with all company policies and procedures across all shift patterns. 
  • Mentor and Lead: Drive and support people development by setting a vision that transforms the culture through improved performance behaviours, LEAN Methodologies, succession planning/talent review etc… Set the standard and exemplify Kerry Value. 

  • Minimum Diploma in Chemical or Mechanical Engineering or other related discipline from a recognised university 
  • Minimum of 7 years working experience in leadership capacity in a Flavour house, Chemical process, or Food manufacturing industry 
  • Must have people management experience in a direct capacity - handling performance management, training, and development of employees  
  • Must have Cost Management experience 
  • Ability to multi-task and delegate functions  
  • Familiarity with GMP and HACCP, quality, and hygiene standards for Food Manufacturing  
  • MS Office and work systems experience essential 
  • Possess working experience in quality and food safety systems AIB, ISO 9001, FSSC, OHSAS14001 
  • Background in the use of SAP in production execution is a plus 
  • Willing to be stationed in Karawang
