About the role

The primary role of the Engineering & Maintenance Manager is to manage the development, operation and reliability of all engineering & maintenance aspects of the factory with the primary objective to ensure all production equipment meets expected levels of output and performance. The Maintenance Manager has to develop, plan and execute the maintenance programs to ensure production equipment, utility and plant facility are well maintained to meet best in class expectations. 

Key responsibilities

  • Ensure the implementation of Environment, Health, and Safety (EHS) and Food Safety Quality (FSQ) policy & procedures in respective department 
  • Effectively manage the Maintenance team – mechanical / electrical / instrumentation in terms of the operation of plant equipment and systems, minimising unplanned downtime, anticipating, and solving problems (FMEA) in a timely manner, and identifying opportunities for improvement 
  • Ensure that all plant equipment and machinery is regularly inspected and meets the most current safety standards and legislative requirements 
  • Recruit, develop, motivate, and manage an emerging Maintenance team that maximises its performance potential and meets current and future business needs
  • Manage utilities system (boilers, nitrogen, compressed air, cooling tower, chiller and etc.) 
  • Continually improve the efficiency of the resources within the Maintenance department implementing the adoption of best working practice and maintenance methods 
  • Control resource expenditure for labour, direct expense and consumables within the approved budget for the department and provide early indications of any potential variances in order to assist the overall units forecasting 
  • Manage site contractors to ensure safe working practices are applied and work is carried out within agrees terms of reference and time scales 
  • Continually improve equipment performance in terms of reliability, downtime and machine-induced quality problems thereby supporting the overall business drive for continuous improvement in operational efficiency 
  • Ensure that buildings and services are maintained to an acceptable level and within budget 
  • Manage the development and implementation of a preventive maintenance program to maximise machine utilisation and minimise breakdown costs 
  • Ensures that Maintenance Executives and Technicians are adequately trained, equipped, and motivated so that the maintenance program can be accomplished in a safe, timely, and cost-effective manner 
  • Communicate regularly with all Maintenance Technicians, both individually and as a group, to ensure good two-way communication 
  • Lead Green Team and organize activity that leads to environmentally friendly 
  • Lead SAP system involving Preventive Maintenance and day to day maintenance job 
  • To provide advisory roles in giving all necessary guidance and inputs
  • To enhance the maintenance department staffs working knowledge, effective quality problems identification and decision making in implementing new standard operating procedures (SOP) related to maintenance activities as and when required accord

Qualifications and skills

Qualifications

  • In possession of a Degree / Master’s in Mechanical / Civil / Electrical Engineering from a recognized university
  • More than 10 years’ experience in maintenance manufacturing and process industry
  • 5 years’ experience in people management and development
  • Experience in Flavour, Chemical and Food Processing is essential
  • Experience leading or participating in Continuous Improvement Projects, CAPEX projects essential
  • Experience in SAP system will be an added advantage
