About the role

Oversee and responsible for the entire Utilities and Building facilities, ensuring their smooth operation and minimizing disruptions.

Key responsibilities

• Supervise the group of boiler man and Waste Water Treatment Plant (WWTP) operators by providing recommendations for hiring, firing, performance evaluation, training, work allocation and problem resolution.
• Supervise, coordinate and monitor Boiler House and WWTP activities, maintains equipment and performs related duties to ensure safe, reliable and efficient operation of steam boilers, chillers, cooling towers, air dryers and air compressors.
• Conduct inspections with Utility Engineer on all completed jobs, ensure conformance with Malaysian Standards, mechanical codes, OSHA, regulations, lock out-tag out, confined space protocols, Material Safety Data Sheets, engineering specifications, and other local, state and federal regulations.
• Supervise spare parts management system. Ensure that all required spare parts are available and to procure the required parts on regular basis.
• Supervise Preventive Maintenance system for Boiler House and WWTP to ensure reliable operation of equipment. To produce PM schedule, inspection and cleaning schedule includes checklist of the jobs to be performed.
• Liaise with Utility Engineer on the operational and maintenance data to predict operating inefficiencies and failures and initiates pro-active repair of operating units, enable continuous reliable and economic service.
• Perform or supervise routine boiler water test on daily basis and WWTP parameters checking on defined regular basis.
• Supervise economical usage of utility chemicals, fuel, electricity and water consumption and record data on steam boilers, chillers, air compressors and WWTP operations.
• Plan, schedule and monitor all work being performed by contractor and others within area of responsibility which is the Boiler House and WWTP.
• Assist Utility Engineer on continuous improvement of divisional performance and of safety and environmental policies and procedures.
• Involved in DOSH statutory inspection on steam boilers, pressure vessels and lifting equipment.  
• Represent the Company as a Competent person for Waste Water Treatment Plant.
• Ensure that the utility supplies such as steam, chilled water and compressed air are according to the Food Safety Management system such HACCP and AIB requirements.

Qualifications and skills

• Minimum  Diploma in Mechanical Engineering or any related field of study
• At least 2-3 years working experience in related field 
• Certified CePIETAO (PCP) & CePIETSO (BP) for WWTP competency is preferred  
• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
• Good communication and interpersonal skills
