Reporting to : QA Manager 

Key responsibilities

 

 

  • Implement and administer policies to ensure Microbiology Team is working towards company policy and department's objectives / KPI / Quality Improvement Programs.
  • Assist in administering company activities i.e. (food safety/quality) management systems (e.g., GMP, HACCP, FSSC), RSPO, Halal, Kosher, EHS (Environment, Health, and Safety) to ensure compliance to relevant standards, policies, statutory / regulatory and customers’ requirements.
  • Administer Environmental Monitoring Program (EMP), allergen control Program, unplanned event, validation and verification activities, hygiene, and sanitation.
  • Plan, organize and coordinate jobs to ensure safe, reliable, and efficient operations in Microbiology Team.
  • Ensure that the raw materials and finished products quality is within the microbiological specification and released in accordance with the relevant procedure.
  • Ensure non-conforming raw/primary packaging materials and/or finished products are handled in accordance with relevant procedure.
  • Ensure prompt communication with superior on any food safety and quality issues / abnormality observed during production / testing / inspection.
  • Support in analysing and troubleshooting of non-conformances (CARs / customer complaint) and coordinating Root Cause Analysis and Corrective Action Plan.
  • Prepare and/or review daily, monthly and/or yearly reports / trending analysis for continual improvement.
  • As a registered Food Analysts with MOH to verify the microbiological parameters in Certificate of Analysis (COA) or other analysis report for finished products.
  • Perform other tasks and assignment as and when required by top management from time to time.
     

Qualifications and skills

 

 

  • Candidate must possess at least a university degree in Microbiology or equivalent.
  • Minimum 2 years’ experience in food microbiology / food manufacturing industry with technical knowledge of microorganism’s morphology and FSMS, especially in Hygiene and Sanitation, Validation and Verification, Environmental Monitoring Program (EMP), Allergen Control Program.
  • Strong leadership with excellent interpersonal / communication, coaching and conflict management skills and able to work with cross-functional teams at multi-levels within the organization.
  • Self-motivated, able to drive continuous improvement and change management initiatives.
  • Problem solving skills and complaint resolution.
