Materials Planner

About the role

As a Materials Planner, you will manage the material ordering process (both raw materials and imported finished goods) to meet target stock levels and agreed customer and/or production dates. The Materials Planner will also manage slow moving and aging inventory reduction plan and mitigate the risk of excess & obsolescence. 

You will increase the materials planning service level through:

  • lead-time & MOQ reduction and ensuring AOS (availability of supply)
  • identifying cost and risk implications due to customer order changes
  • implement mechanism to capture and recommend solutions on materials management

This role will be based at site in Tampoi, Johor and will report to the Supply Chain Manager.

Key responsibilities

The main duties and responsibilities of this role will include:

  • Execute MRP weekly basis and monitor / review materials (raw materials and packaging) status
  • Check and match sales orders vs commitment before and after loaded into MRP system
  • Initiate purchase orders to be issued at right quantities, ETA and location
  • Ensure optimum inventory level including aged raw materials and materials flow
  • Ensure timely response to customer orders and provide monthly forecast to suppliers
  • Coordinate for materials interplant transfer between Johor Bahru and Penang.
  • Support materials request from other Kerry sites from time to time and coordination with R&D department for new projects.
  • Prepare monthly usage report to align with customer forecast vs inventory holding level
  • Prepare contingency plan to minimize / cover ad hoc issues (quality, shipment delay….etc)

Qualifications and skills

To be successful in this role you will:

  • Minimum bachelor’s degree in Logistics/supply chain or any other relevant field
  • 2 – 5 year working experience in related field
  • Strong knowledge of ERP systems is essential; SAP experience is a definite advantage, excellent in using Ms. Excel
  • A knowledge of the material call off / planning function with the ability to think logically in a fast changing environment is essential for the role
  • Verbal and written communication in English
