We’re currently looking for a Quality Assurance Manager to join our fantastic foods site, based in Hyde!

About the role

Manage the site Quality agenda and ensure site remains compliant with BRC, KFMS and customer requirements. Ensuring resources are effective to carry out the quality function. Whilst managing direct and indirect reports along with graduate training. You will also manage the internal audit schedule, and ensure there are a sufficient number of trained auditors available.

Key responsibilities
  • Lead the packaging drafting, creation, approval, legal and delivery through good working relationships with suppliers and through effective relationships with internal stakeholders.
  • Build good working relationships with internal stakeholders, the primary authority, trading standards and Campden.
  • Satisfy the safety, quality and legality of all products and packaging by working with all departments to get it right first time, every time.
  • Continuously improve standards set by facilitating and executing 8 Step practical problem solving and other appropriate KPS methodologies, if required.  
  • Maintain product quality and adherence to specifications through management of the Quality Compliance Auditing process to deliver agreed product specifications as defined in quality standards and policies. Close out non conformances in a timely manner.
  • Carry out supplier visits/ audits if required.         
  • Ensure that the external laboratory is UKAS accredited and that analysis is covered by the accreditation.
  • Ensure that any disputes with the laboratory are dealt with in a fair and timely manner.
  • Ensure that internal Quality, H&S and Environmental (QSHE) audits are carried out to verify compliance against defined standards and codes of practice for their areas of responsibility. Also assist with the customer / 3rd Party Quality audit process.
  • Key activities will include providing guidance and support to the suppliers or production/NPI teams and other functions to ensure issues are risk assessed as necessary and appropriate corrective actions identified.
  • Ensure internal and external stakeholders EHO, Trading standards primary authority BRCGS are communicated with when required.
Qualifications and skills
  • Diploma in a Food Science related subject, or equivalent
  • Numerical ability to record, interpret and analyse key process data
  • Minimum Level 3 HACC & Food Safety
  • Experience of managing a team within a Quality Assurance function
  • Understanding and ability to apply in live situations the principles and tools of lean manufacturing
  • Understanding of Food Safety and Quality Management Systems
  • Knowledge of the BRC Global Food Standard and specific customer standards as they apply
  • Lead auditor qualification.
  • Understanding of web based specification platforms for major retailers.
  • Strong influencing, team facilitation and coaching skills
  • Ability to work cross functionally
