HSE Manager

About the role

Kerry Foods is part of the Kerry Group, an global food organization with over 24,000 employees and with an annual turnover in excess of €5.3 billion. Responsible for some of the UK and Ireland’s best known brands, such as Cheestrings, Mattessons, Wall’s & Richmond sausages, Pure, Yollies, Dairygold and Denny. Kerry Foods is also a leading producer of supermarket private label products such as chilled and frozen ready meals, cooked meats,  cheese and dairy products. We are currently looking for an HSE Manager to our team to ensure the site operates to appropriate standards of Health, Safety and environmental meeting all regulatory requirements. 

We’re currently looking to recruit a HSE Manager to join our Foods site in Hyde, Greater Manchester!

The HSE manager will partner the General Manager & site leadership team to achieve business goals in the short and long term through focus on Health, Safety and Environment. They will drive the delivery of the site strategy, providing clear standards and governance. Whilst holding the leadership team accountable for delivering against HSE responsibilities, assuring compliance to the HSE standards that ensure site meet all regulatory requirements as a minimum.

Key responsibilities
  • Over-seeing that all Health, Safety and Environmental legislation is adhered to and policies and practices are adopted
  • Implement and maintain the site Health, Safety and Environment systems eg KFSS, ISO14001
  • Analyse & report performance metrics (P,Q,S,W)
  • Through analysis of Site Performance Data, identify performance gaps, trends and improvement opportunities. Communicate internally using visual management standards and effective deployment to line level as well as externally to technology management team.
  • Ensure the achievement of Green Status KFSS so that the site is proactive in terms of audit readiness
  • Carry out regular site inspections to check HSE policies and procedures are being properly implemented
  • Be the site management representative with external regulatory bodies such as EPA, HSE/HSA, County Councils and water/effluent treatment providers
  • Develop and maintain an annual Health, Safety and Environmental Master Schedule for the site, which will include monthly reviews with the site GM
  • Liaising with HR to ensure development and delivery of a detailed training plan for all managers and employees on Health, Safety and Environmental issues and risks
Qualifications and skills
  • NEBOSH Certificate
  • Certificate in Environmental Management or equivalent
  • Experience with Health, Safety and Environment systems
  • The ability to identify and actively plan improvements
  • Demonstrate flexibility and adaptability to be successful in a changing environment and ability to work cross functionally to deliver business objectives.
  • Proven capability to operate at a strategic level possessing the in-depth skill to promote and manage short, medium and long term strategic objectives
