About the role
We are looking for a Sample Technician to support the Stocks & Broths RD&A Development team.
Stocks & Broths is a key Technology for the UK&I Business Unit within Kerry, and with strong growth aspirations we have the need for more UK resources to overcome some Brexit challenges.
The Development teams are based in Naas, Ireland and Portbury, Bristol however, the successful candidate will be based in Hartlepool located within the QHSE office and RD&A Kitchen.
Key responsibilities
- Supporting the team by preparing samples for internal assessment and dispatch to customers (with relevant supporting documentation) within agreed timelines
- Supporting the Commercialisation process by ensuring Gold Standard recipe samples are made and dispatched to production sites in a timely manner, ensuring we meet our KPIs
- Supporting and leading pilot plant trials, including the preparation of recipes, manufacture of samples, running of the trials and preparation of post-trial reports
- Managing raw materials in the laboratory, including stock management, ordering of raw materials from external sites and maintenance of raw material traceability documentation
- Assessment and validation of new raw materials, from existing and new suppliers enable cost optimisation in recipes
- Preparation of finished products for internal tastings/sensory assessments and dispatch to customers
- Attending weekly team meetings, providing updates on workload and priorities to the wider team
- Working within set ways of working, including documentation of laboratory work, pilot plant work and keeping up to date with project administration
Qualifications and skills
- Degree in Food & Science, Food Technology desired but not essential
- Speak English fluently, second language desirable
- Knowledge of the computer systems and the use of terminals
- Organisation skills and Data Analysis skills
- Relational and communications skills
- Demonstrate scientific curiosity.
- Must be able to taste and smell flavour ingredients, flavours and food products.
- Work well in an ambiguous setting, self-motivated and proactive.
