About the role

We currently looking to recruit a Maintenance Technician to join our Taste & Nutrition team in Hartlepool.

Key responsibilities
  • Review with the Engineering Manager any unforeseen safety considerations that come to light while performing engineering duties.
  • Issue “Permit to Work” to contractors, or other engineers.
  • Normal job task priority is breakdowns, then PM’s, then repairs (where possible), then projects/improvements.
  • Any repairs that cannot be completed before the end of the shift and are not being directed passed onto the next shift must be logged on the shift log.
  • Actively seek to undertake PMs on offline machinery where time allows.
  • Actively seek to get machinery fit for maintenance tasks (ie cleaning) if required.
  • Fully complete PM sheets with all observations, jobs completed and recommendations and file with the Maintenance Planner.

  • Suggest improvements to PMs and write these on the PM sheet.  For example, this could be additional checks required, a change to the maintenance frequency depending on machine condition, redundant checks, etc.
  • Actively gain as much information as possible from production personnel regarding the fault on the machine to speed up the fault-finding process.
  • Aim for “right first time”.
  • Ensure ALL new installations or modifications to existing machinery are commissioned and risk assessed before use.
  • Foresee any maintenance issues that can be ironed out during the design / installation phase.
  • Highlight to the Maintenance Planner any redundant items held in the engineering stores.
  • Comply with all relevant Kerry Ingredients’ procedures.
  • Ensure engineering log and computer systems are fully filled in with all relevant information including PM numbers, all used parts, plant numbers, urgency of required parts, at the end of each shift.  If a required part is not a stock item, a full description must be given so that the correct part can be sourced.
  • Ensure all communications with external persons are conducted in a professional manner which reflects the company profile.
  • Production downtime / disruption shall be minimal.
