About the role

We currently looking to recruit a Maintenance Manager to join our Taste & Nutrition team in Hartlepool.

This key position provides support to the engineering maintenance department by ensuring all third-party vendors are vetted prior to arriving on site, managed whilst on site, and work reviewed following completion.  The core focus for this role is to ensure equipment and facilities maintenance is completed to a high standard using your own team and third parties, and to ensure the work is completed on time and on budget, to the agreed standard.  You will be responsible for a range of project which will involve process improvement, equipment repair, and maintenance including overhauls, installation of machines, tools, and equipment in manufacturing operations. Key responsibilities

  • Demonstrates leadership in the area of health & safety.  Ensures all engineering and maintenance activities on site exceed the appropriate health and safety standards.
  • Responsible for ensuring that all Kerry policies and standards are implemented and adhered to while ensuring regional, national and local legislative requirements are met by any external services/contractors utilised by engineering.
  • Engage production and maintenance teams in a positive and professional manner, to understand customer needs and build a track record for professionalism and credibility in understanding, responding to and communicating issues and solutions.
  • Responsible for management and delivery of the weekly Maintenance works schedule and any urgent work that arises, where necessary resetting the daily priorities ensuring the plant operation is fully supported and output is not impacted due to engineering issues. This includes managing and controlling all day to day maintenance activities on site delivered by external services/contractors.
  • Manage resources to ensure work is completed to the agreed budget and minimum unplanned production downtime and maximum workplace efficiency. 

  • Responsible for the vetting and selection of external service providers/ contractors on site, ensuring all contact, H&S and insurance details are up to date
  • Hold regular reviews with external service providers/ contractors to site to review performance on site, and what improvement opportunities are available
  • Oversee and manage all external service providers/ contractors under engineering control. This includes, specifying responsibilities, detailing contract agreements, and installation specifications ensuring adherence to QHSE standards.
  • Hold PTW responsibility for external service providers/ contractors who attend site to carryout works.
  • Fulfil the EUM role for the site, monitoring all energy usage on site and ensuring the Utilities meet the site needs
  • Perform other tasks and special assignments as requested by the Engineering Manager.

Qualifications and skills

  • Electrical or mechanical relevant Trade qualification, diploma or degree
  • Experience in a similar role - essential
  • Excellent troubleshooting ability
  • Experience of contract negotiations and day to day dealings with external service providers /contractors
  • Proven track record building solid working relationships
  • Strong computer skills in Microsoft programs Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint. Good technical analysis ability and proficient in report writings.  Fully proficient in interpreting CAD drawings, for electrical, mechanical and facilities applications
  • Excellent organisational skills

  • Evidence of excellent verbal and written communication skills, demonstrating the value of technical journaling and expanded use of this information
  • Food industry knowledge - desirable
  • Boiler, Refrigeration and Cooling Towers knowledge – desirable
  • Working SAP knowledge - desirable
  • Knowledgeable in Maintenance best practice and CMMS systems to assist in delivering same – desirable
