About the site

Our Harrisonburg, VA, location is part of our Taste division and creates a variety of stock broth, soups, and bases. What would you do?

  • Developing, implementing and maintaining sanitation procedures and programs (i.e. - Pest Control Program, Pre-Operational Program, ATP Swab Program, Environmental Swabs Program) 
  • Ensure a pest free environment by working the pest control vendor assuring compliance with Kerry Standards. 
  • Work with the engineering and maintenance team advising on hygienic design and new equipment approval. 
  • Optimize sanitation SSOPs to achieve a higher level of effectiveness and efficiency as well as a lower environmental impact. 
  • Monitor adherence to sanitation program policies, procedures in the plant environment and ensure the cleaning regime is in place and adhered to. Report discrepancies to plant management. 
  • Manage Master Sanitation Schedule 
  • Maintain and validate effectiveness of sanitation SSOPs. 
  • Conduct daily sanitation GMP inspections of the facility and participates in the monthly and annual reviews. 
  • Responsible for Plant and production equipment cleaning and record keeping. 
  • Promote improvement efforts in sanitation. 
  • Work with the plant leadership team (Production, Maintenance, Quality, and Warehouse) to review all sanitation training programs to ensure they are understood and completed by fellow sanitation personnel and/or plant personnel in a safe and efficient manner. • Make suggestions regarding improved techniques for the control of plant cleanliness. 
  • Coordinate and direct the activities of the sanitation department to maximize productivity while maintaining quality. 
  • Train and supervise sanitation and/or plant personnel. 
  • Train all employees in sanitation SSOPs, as well as, conduct refresher training to ensure employees are trained on updates and modification to SSOPs. 
  • Meet with new employees that perform critical SSOPs as part of their job and discuss the importance of this activity and how to adequately perform it. 
  • Develop training modules for employees on GMPs. 
  • Prepare corrective actions/preventive actions for sanitation related items found during the daily GMP walk. 
  • Participate in root cause analysis and corrective/preventive action plans on any event that could be caused by/related to sanitation. 
  • Responsible for plant relationship with chemical products supplier to ensure timely and effective technical support. 
  • General support of plant production and quality assigned by plant leadership. 
  • Train in the HACCP program in order to identify critical steps and other instructions critical to effective implementation and maintenance of the Food safety Plan. 
  • Support for SQF System. 

What will you need to be successful?

  • Bachelor's degree (B.S.) from four-year College or university preferred
  • 2 to 5 years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. 
  • Minimum of 2-3 years Sanitation or Quality related experience in a food production environment.
